I realize the thread title kind of sucks, and yes, I have searched and searched and searched but not found exactly the answer I'm looking for. I have a 2gb 5 speed GSX, and I want to replace the exhaust. I've made it as far as a CX Racing o2 housing and a Punishment Racing 3" DP. My question is: What catback exhaust bolts directly up to this combo? Also, will I need some sort of test pipe to make it work, or will the DP bolt on directly to the CBE?

I would prefer a name brand like Thermal but I'm willing to go with whatever will bolt right up without me having to cut anything or take it to an exhaust shop. Anybody have any ideas?

According to punishment's site the 2g AWD down pipe from them eliminates the catalytic converter so you should not need a test pipe. Any of the major brand cat backs should bolt up to that down pipe, Apexi, Thermal, Megan.

You could always give Punishment racing a call and verify what systems bolt up to their down pipe.

Yes I'm waiting to hear back from them now, hopefully they respond, but also wanted to get real world feedback from people who have had it.

I have used punishment downpipes with several exhaust combinations without issue. Apexi, eBay (tsudo), and stock 3g eclipse gt. Any exhaust bigger than stock 2g should bolt right up, assuming that they haven't changed their design in the past 5 or 6 years.

Just an update to this thread for anyone searching for an answer in the future. The PR DP does NOT bolt up to the Thermal catback. The Thermal necks down to 2.5" where it meets the DP, and the angle is also off. I'm having to get a welder redo the connection, probably going with a V-Band connection. I'll update this post later with pictures.

Finally got the exhaust finished. Hopefully this will help anyone in the future looking for a complete answer. My setup is a CXRacing recirculated o2 housing, then the Punishment Racing 3" downpipe, then the Thermal R&D catback.

Since the Thermal exhaust is designed to mate up to the factory downpipe, the flange is 2.5". The PR DP flange is 3". I had to get a welder buddy of mine to help me resolve the issue. At first we tried welding just a 2.5" flange onto the downpipe (I didn't want a full 3" right now as I'm only running a 14b on factory wastegate), but the angles didn't line up quite right, so he had to start over. He ended up doing a V-Band connection which worked out pretty well.

I was shocked how little information there is out there as far as true bolt-on systems. If you go this route, be prepared to do some customizing!
