What to upgrade first on eclipse rs non-turbo?

Just bought a 96 eclipse rs and am lookin to make it faster. Whats the first couple of things i should put on it?

3 inch exhaust is huge for non-turbo. I would go with a cold air intake.

ditch the 3in, your loosing performance... Individual throttle boddies , i used to make them for hondas using hyabusa individual throttle boddies

More like short ram = better throttle response but more succeptible to heat soak, whereas a CAI is the opposite.

First thing I did for my non turbo talon, even though it had a 4g63, is replace everything that is under the maintenance category.


compression test
new oil pump
new water pump
new timming belt
new head gasket
new plug's & wire's
etc

after that I replaced the intake, but you said you already have that taken care of.

If you can with you emissions laws, I would do straight piping 2.5 inch exhaust. You can probably find a bolt on kit, but taking it to a muffler shop and getting you choose of muffler, you might get a better deal and get a more custom exhaust.

And if you are looking to make you 2.0 N/T faster consider weight reduction. I noticed a difference when I removed my, a/c, floor matts, cruise control, and ABS.

Also when you replace your exhaust you should run a flowmaster 40 muffler. If you want it to sound tough and not ricey, I love the one on my car.
