I have a 6 bolt 2.1 with 9:1 Wisecos, H beam rods, BC 272/272 cams and i'm putting ARP head studs on with a new cometic HG. I have Balancer shafts removed, AC removed, Power Steering removed, and Cruise control removed. Also have a full 3" exhaust with a megan high flow cat.
Basically I want the motor to be reliable enough to make up to 10 passes at a track a night and still drive me home and to the city 100 miles both ways fine.
Also wanna be in the 12's... nothing crazy.. a 12.99 would be exactly where I want to be.
Anywho I just don't know anything about tuning or setting up a turbo setup...
As of right now I have a 20psi boost gauge... not planning to run more than that on this build (unless I need to), and a turbo timer.
I have a freshly rebuilt 14b and i've only been running it at 12psi until I blew the HG which is why i'm just gonna put a new setup on this car. I considered running the 14b to a high 12 but I figure it will be 10 times easier and more reliable with a better setup so here it goes.
I have a walbro 255, stock 450cc inj., car is a 90 GSX 5 speed, and Turbo XS MBC.
Basically what should I do... now my max I wanna get at the track is to be in 12 country nothing more... i'm thinking a 16g as they're really cheap and i've been told will be able to get me there the cheapest overall. I've been reading up on injectors and I guess a 16g maxes out at around 650cc... this is where I know nothing about turbo applications...
Where do I go from here... I know i'm going to need some kind of tuning stuff too like a SAFC or DSM link... can I use DSM link without an EPROM? Should I get an EPROM or does it not matter at all?
