Okay so here is my question I'm going t have about $500 to put into my car, my mods so far are

CAI
Header
Cat back
57mm throttle body
crankscraper
UDP
port and polished head
MSD ignition

What should I do next with the $500? AFX? Crower stage 2? eventually I wanna turbo though what are your guys opinions???

Sell your n/t take that money to buy a gst or gsx and spend the 500 on it. You'll be far more happy. That just comes from me owning a gst and a gsx and being around many who own a 420a and all of them wish they would have went with the 4g63 way.

Either buy the cams, or save the money and start piecing together your turbo stuff. The AF/X computer will not be beneficial in the future since you are going turbo.

While that may be a great suggestion, it's not proper to say that. A factory turbo car is generally always the best option, but not everyone wants to go that route or has the ability to.

+1, if you have money left over i would get some solid/polyurethane motor mounts, or start working on your weight shaving with a bad ass battery like me =P Odessy Optimum Battery pc680 ftw!

Cams would be the most benificial now. If you can wait to add some power then piece together turbo stuff.

Deposit the money in paypal and then send it to [email protected]. I"ll take care of that nasty ole cash for you :D

If you buy the Crower 2's NA you can re-use them when you go turbo. If you get the AFX you will have to have big balls, race gas and low boost to run it turbo ;)

Of course, if you want to get into the install and tune, MSnS is by far the most effective use of your cash.

This is not the kind of advice any of us like to hear around here...It's also against the rules. I would never second guess my 420a decision.

That $500 would get you well on your way to a turbo kit, but if you aren't ready to do that I'd also vote for the cams. Like bullett said, the Crower 2's can be used NA and Turbo :)

Save your money for a down payment on a reliable DD.

But if you think adding all this stuff won't sacrifice reliability - go with cams.

Sorry for the suggestion. I didn't mean to offend anybody. As far as the 500 you could use it towards any routine maintenance that is needed. I only say that because myself included have tended to neglect the routine maintenance.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys. Selling the car is definetely not an option, right now I'm thinking the cams would be the best bet since I would be able to reuse them once I go turbo. Will I see any gains from them with the stock ecu though, thats the real question. Also I have a spare motor which would be the one I would build up for boost, I could always start by putting the $500 into that and get the machine work done on the block

I heard that adding a turbo to a 420a is almost counter-productive because you can only pop about 8psi boost on stock internals and its not gonna make the car very much faster than stock if faster at all. I see a bolt on turbo kit on cl for 500 obo. Why put in on if its not gonna make hardly and difference? IDK.
but anywayz, Id take the 500 and put it into interior or stereo or cosmetic stuff, because I dont see the 420a getting any faster without major engine mods, at least thats how I feel about mine at the moment. When I heard you cant do turbo engine swaps into your non turbo, I almost cried. That sux.
So, to me its kinda like i sell it and get a gst, or be slow. Good luck man the car looks good.:hmm:

"get a gst or be slow" honestly.

Kyle i think the idea of you putting your $500 towards your other motor to build it up sounds like the best idea. that way you also don't have to worry about your current car (which i'm assuming is probably your daily) being "down" for any period of time. good luck if you are going to boost your 420a. i have decided that my little gs will never see a turbo. one pain in the ass is enough for me :p

And ignorance is bliss....lets see. With bolt ons and stock ecu the car makes around 117whp, on 8psi it makes around 200whp. To me thats a big difference in power. And you can put the 4g63 in a NT car but it requires major amount of skill or deep pockets.

"get a gst or be slow" honestly.
:p
And I'm sure people told you get a GSX or be slow :p

Different strokes for different folks...and I don't think that Marks turbo car was slow, or DSMZero's car is slow and several other members. Its just not as easy and putting a boost controller on and turning it a few clicks. I like to think of it as it takes more determination to make a 420a car go fast, not for the average person.

My vote is use the money for MSnS, it will allow you to really reap the benefits of what you have now. If you feel as if MSnS is too much for you at this point then I agree with putting the money toward a DD, trust me you'll need one eventually. If you just really DONT want to get a DD then use that money toward some cams. You will see neg. gains out of cams on the stock ecu but it will sound different(depending on the ones you go with) and will move the powerband. If you have another motor then you could use that money as well on building it. 500 will buy you a set of pistons...

i meant that i was actually kind of tired of people with the 4g63t motors telling folks with the 420a motors to just go get a gst or gsx and sell the little 420a. having one of each, i personally consider the gst a royal pain. turbos make everything complicated :)

I would sell the n/t and get a GSX or GST, and spend the extra 500 towards one. Unless you definitely want to keep your car, i would get cams. It would just be easier to start with a turbo car.

Once again guys thanks I really appreciate all the feedback

1. Selling this car is not an option!!! put way to much money into cosmetics and its my first car
2. I do have a dd 96 grand cherokee so were set there
3. I have an extra 420a block and head

With that being said It's either cams for now then when I do rebuild the motor they can be used again also or start building a motor for some boost! unless anyone has another idea

You know, i know the rules, and i herd you say about 3-4 times that selling the car is not an option, and i see everyone else reminding others of the rules every other thread but, dude, seriously, just buy a 4g63 man, and sell the 420a ya know? I'm sure you havnt herd of this and im telling ya!

*edit*
thought i better add in a "/sarcasm" to that just for the people who dont know me

Also, you will see gains with s2 cams on a stock ecu... just not nearly as much as you would with megasquirt or afx. But still, you can use the cams in the future when you go turbo, so still a good investment

I would also say a set of cams would be the best way to spend it, or if you're up for a little bit of a bigger challenge MSnS. You would see more of a gain from MSnS, though.
