I have a 1g tsi and my turbo seized up on me and i was looking into getting a 16g off ebay and i didn't know what all was good or not. Anyone got any suggestions? Cause there is like an ETD Motors thats selling a 16g for $189 but i don't know, or if anyone knows a good place to get a new turbo for not bad pricing?

This has been discussed many, many times on this site.

About 1 in 12 eBay turbos are good and will last over 5k. Some won't make it to the 100-mile mark.

You'd be better-off taking $189 to Vegas, playing some games of chance, then hoping to walk with enough to buy a MHI Evo III 16G.

Do yourself a favor and get a real MHI 16g or if you can't afford that just get another 14b.

yeah man buying a 16g from ebay is very sketchy i would save your money and buy a good turbo, you can usually find decent deals if you search the classifieds on here

Use the old adage "You get what you pay for". Some (a very few) will last, the rest can grenade and potentially cost you an engine if the the shrapnel gets into the engine. Save up for a real one.

WHile Ive heard very few success stories from buying a 16g off ebay, Id be very weary of it unless you are crafty enough to fix known problems with the ie wastegate stuff.

Some people have great luck with ebay turbos, I would still be a little iffy to buy one myself. You could always look for a used one, or just save up some money and try to find a turbo you would like to run with whatever setup you have in mind. Check the classifieds for turbos.

I wouldnt buy an ebay 16g all i hear is bad news about them.
Since your in need of a turbo pm me iv got a 14b in good shape that il sell for CHEAP

I wouldn't get one off ebay. I would probably get stick with the 14b for awhile if the car is all stock. the 14b is a pretty good turbo for stock cars anyways.

I wouldn't trust Ebay Turbos. I have an Evo III Ebay 16G and the flapper doesn't even close all the way.
