OK well im a real noob when it comes to suspension....i have a FWD turbo car that i want to be able to have some traction with when i put my new turbo in! I am looking more for a street but also track capable set-up. What do you guys think would be be the best suspension set-up for my car?

Mods as follows

190 lph
FMIC
660 inj
Safc II
GM MAF with translator
Cometic Head gasket
ARP STUDS
ON THE WAY- 50 trim ball bearing turbo!

Also what size tire should i go with.....bigger rims and tires or just better stock tires?

thanks

My budget is around 800 give or take....i dont want to be cheap because i know you get what you pay for? also would i have to lower it when i get the set-up to achieve better traction?

Im loving the Megan Racing Coilovers, which are in your price range. I should be picking up a set very soon.

Personally, I'd go with a set of Megan Racing coilovers ($850 for all four) if you can afford it... and if you have the cash left over afterward, a set of solid motor mounts to help reduce wheelhop. Oh, and a rear sway bar (NOT the front!) if you have cash left after both of those, if you like to turn... night and day difference, the rear sway bar absolutely made the MOST difference of any suspension mod I've done so far. WAY more responsive on turns, rotates a lot easier, and that's on a GSX with no power steering... says a lot.
Do realize that you will need to get a full alignment after replacing your suspension, and any time you raise/lower it if you spring for the adjustable coilovers. Damping rate can be changed freely with no adverse affects to alignment, so stiffen it up at the track and soften it for the drive home.

Be warned, the Megans are pretty damn stiff, even at their softest.. so if you like the feel of a stock suspension on handling bumps, give it more consideration before making a decision.

ok well thanks for the help!! greatly appreciate it! that is what i will get then...i just ordered the motor mounts and will order the coilovers tomorrow! thanks for the guidance everyone!

alright well i was looking for the megan racing coilovers and found them! only problem is that i dont see any for a FRONT wheel drive car....so my question is there any difference between the AWD and FWD suspension or can i just get the AWD one and its ok to put on my FWD?

$1050!? I guess you could look for a group buy or do a search for the part number... But that definitely is not in the $800 range.

Thats just the MSRP, from what I recall they usually retail well under the $1000 mark. Believe VIP Garage (vendor here) should be able to get you set up with those for a good price.

I don't have experience with the Megans but I can say, urthane motor mounts are cheep & really do help out with traction. As for suspension, adjustable shocks are very nice on a fwd & look for something fairly stiff if you don't mind it for DDing. The whole idea behind this & adjustable shocks is that in a fwd you want to prevent as much weight transfer to the rear as possible. Your trying to keep all the weight over the front drive wheels & a heavier rear spring combined with the rear shocks set full hard while the front set full soft, seems to work best for the straight line at the track.

Think the best bang for the buck traction upgrade in a fwd is slicks. Really sucks having a low 12 second car that runs mid to high 13's all day long because of being fwd & using street tires (trust me I know all about it  )
