I have a 1990 gst 6 bolt. I'm looking to rebuild because it won't turn all the way over by hand. I'm looking for a cheap and somewhat decent rebuild kit. Maybe a 1g rod and 2g piston set up. Not completely sure yet. Also would need some new hardware all around. Rodbolts, head bolts etc. What should I do?

I pulled them out and I still only get about half of a turn in borh directions before it feels like Im making contact.

Check all the timing belt marks.

Line up the crank mark to the front case, then check the cam to cam mark.

You may have slipped a few teeth.

Drop the front belts, pull the balancer and the front timing belt cover.

Use the mark on the plate just behind the crank gear.

Balancers can slip.

There is a mark on the balancer, it is just small and hard to see if you do not know what you are looking for.

Check the timing belt before you pull the engine.

You may not need a full rebuild.

Even if you pull what I said to check the timing belt, some will have to come off to slip the egine out any how.

I'm just thinking getting that timing belt cover off is going to be a pain in the rear end.

It's definitely not fun, but neither is pulling the engine if you don't have to. From the sound of it you jumped timing and the valves are contacting the pistons....a rebuilt or used replacement head and all new timing components will fix your problem.
