I have a 95 with a 90 model block/head/intake. I am about to install my comp 101200 cams. I have cams and gears and a new valve cover gasket. Is there anything else i will need to do this job? I've heard some talk about modifying for the cas, do i have to do this since i have a 90 model cas?

You need a valve spring compressor. While you are in there I would replace the valve stem seals and cam seals. If you don't know how many miles since the last t-belt change then you should consider doing that. At the very least replace the hydraulic tensioner unless it was very recently replaced.

Yes, you will have to set base timing using a timing light.

I think you both are reading the OP wrong, hes swapping cams from what I can tell and NOT the head itself.

If your doing a cam/cam gear install you'll need 10mm/12mm/14mm sockets and combo wrenches for basic bolts, a 17mm socket for the cam gear bolts, and a torque wrench to re-torque the cam caps, cam gear bolts, & VC bolts.

Since your also removing the timing belt I'd suggest purchasing a Jay's Racing timing belt tool kit, a asset to any DSM'rs toolbox. Jay Racing Timing Belt Tool Kit

For gaskets your going to want to get new cam seals and a VC gasket as well, like mentioned above.

Yep, you're right gofer. No need to remove valve springs .

FWIW, there are valve spring compressors that you can use with the head on the car should you decide to upgrade springs and retainers.

Thats worth something to me, I had no idea they had such a thing... What a PITA it would be to install the springs/retainers/locks though.

My head was redone 6000 miles ago so I have new seals, springs and ti retainers. I did timing belt 1000 miles ago along with tensioner and all pulleys. I have 3g lifters to go in with the cams. How many cam seals are required? I have the jays fix cam gear tool, which way is the arrow supposed to point? UP or Down?

The arrow on the Jay Racing tool points up, heres a picture for easier reference and how it should look...

There are (2) cam gaskets on the ends of cam, just behind the cam gears and if I remember correctly they're about $6pc from a local car parts store.
