what parts are needed for head gasket install?

98 gst spyder with 50trim & supporting mods
150,000 miles, here's what I ordered so far, anything else needed before I get started?

head gasket & top end gasket kit
water pump
tensioners
balance belt
adjusters
timing pulley
timing belt
head studs (arp)
manifold bolts (one is broken)
oil
coolant

anything else you guys can think of let me know. Thanks

Make sure your get the clearances on the head checked and milled if need be.
Everything else seems to be good.
 
Can of copper coat spray for the gasket's. I learned the hard way that you want to use this stuff on the waterpump gasket. I also used it on my timing cover, oil filter housing and headgasket but you won't be taking the timing cover off and oil filter housing off so no worries there. But definatly use it on the waterpump and headgasket if you have a MLS one.

I could be wrong.....but doesnt the timing cover come off to pull the timing so the head can come off?

Haha dont we all wish we didnt have to fight with that damn non flexable pita.. ROFL Be careful putting the bolts back in after the job is done. (in the side cover) They like to strip out.

The timing cover I'm referring to is the one behind all of the tensioner's and pulley's. The front case I believe is the technical name. That does not have to come off when replacing the timing belt unless you are doing a BS eliminator kit.

Gotcha. Yea, front case, oil pump. Either way , it dont.

I'm glad you mentioned that though. If yours is old, replace it with a new one. Front case with oil pump gears.
It would suck to have your fresh headgasket not matter due to a failed oil pump.

remember to mark their locations. They're different lengths and if you confuse them you'll think the water pump is on but they'll back off. Locktite is your friend too.
