i'm just wondering if im overlooknig anything. i know i'm gonna need a hi-performance head and hi-boost HG. I'm also gonna need new pistons. Is there anything else i might be missing? Fuel mods arent engine mods so dont post them i already know about them.

you definetly don't need a different head

and most would say you don't need a different head gasket

i think most peopl agree 25psi is ok on stock HG

I have personally seen a few people runing 20+ with stock motor, but good flowing fuel, and exhaust maybe 3" turbo back will do a great job, ported exhaust and 02 housing, and definetaly an EGT gauge... but it all depends if you want to keep your engine in that range (lbs) or just for track days?
Tell us a little more about your project so people can recomend you more things about how you should work things...

My older cuz is running 20+ psi hes pretty much stock too. Walboro 255 fuel pump, 3 stage boost controller that he made. that is about it. As u can see u dont really need that much. I hope im not forgetting n e thing. Ill get back to u if there is something i forgot, but im pretty sure that is it really.

well lets see im gonna be ordering a 50 trim soon so i was just wondering if my engine need beeefing up to handle the boost, also ordering my safc-2 soon, same with the walbro 255 hp fuel pump. ill probably be boosting alot more than 20 when i go to the track and on the street goign to work and shit ill leave it at like 15 and then on the street other times ill proabbly have 20. but it wouldnt hurt to spend like an extra 1200 on a better head and hi-boost HG would it. because im going to replace my Hg soon cause it probably needs to be done.

I would say definately get the Mitsu metal headgasket and while your at it throw in the ARP headstuds. My stock headgasket went at 100 000 k's with a bone stock setup 2 years ago. Thats my .02 cents.

Skip the metal HG... Especially if the block and head have not just been decked.

Just drop in ARP's W/O moving the head even...

<shrug> the mitsubishi 4g63 is one strong mother..I don't think 20PSI requires much (if any) modding of internals on the motor..its the turbo thats going to limit you.

No you don't 'NEEEEED' anything special. You 'CAAAAAN' get a set of ARP's and put them in. Other than that, you are good.

You can leave your block alone for a 50trim, nothing is needed. I am pushing 21psi daily on my stock block and you can see my profile to get the mods I have done. Just get the support (I.E. Fuel, exhaust) and you are all set.:thumb:

You need 3 types of mods:

1. Ignition/Timing--Iridium plugs, 8mm wires; adjustable cam sprockets. You need to tune proper a/f ratios, and to advance/retard ignition & timing. Go w/ a standalone ems if you can, or switch to a 2g mas & SAFC.

I run Densos, Magnecor, AEM tru-time; never had a problem at idle or 22 pounds on backroads.

2. Don't go nuts on internals; don't even open the head or block. Throw fresh ARPs on the stock HG...with cooling help it'll be fine.

3. You'll NEED to upgrade that pinner OEM SMIC or give it help with an aluminum radiator w/ slimline fans. Best solution w/ 20psi; get a FMIC from RRE or DSM motorsport. Cheapest solution; C&R radiatior w/ Flex-a-Lite or SPAL fans.

Why? Because at 20 psi, you're stock ECU won't be able to match airflow w/ fuel, timing and ignition values. It can't handle 20psi alone. You need to tune to proper air/fuel ratios w/ a SAFC or standalone ems. Trust me, tune it right so you don't detonate by running to lean. Seen it, dealt with it. It's ugly.

im not a newbie guys i know everything i need i was wondering if there was any internals i needed, also how would advancing or retarding my ignition or timing help if tis perfect the way it is now. So youre all saying i dont need any internal things. Alright thanks for the help.
