I have a 98 GST Spyder with 170k miles on it. I replaced all belts including timing. Oil is synthetic and have new plugs and wires. Currently I am having a F1 Stage 3 clutch and fly-wheel installed. Transmission is being rebuilt. I have purchased energy bushings (not installed), adjustable lowering springs and new shocks (not installed). New cat and muffler. New rotors and pads. The rest of the car is all stock.

I have a budget of $2500.00 and would like to get 350hp. Looking for suggestions as to what I should do/purchase to get the hp I want.

I have a set of Evo 560cc injectors and a small 16g for sale. Might be hard pressed to get 350hp out of that, but would make your car a fun street car. 1.You're gonna need to upgrade your fuel pump if you plan on running more fuel, a walbro 255, and an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator would be a good combo. 2.Stock 2g manifolds are fine, don't waste money there's if you want that to flow better, could have it ported out a bit. 3.Gonna need some sort of tuning device (safc, dsmlink, etc), as well as a wideband to watch your air fuel ratios (so ya don't blow up that 170k mile 7 bolt, which is kinda scary haha). 4.A nice front mount intercooler should be on your list, and maybe a hard intake for your mass air flow sensor, just to help flow out (also have one of those for sale, not trying to plug my ad haha). 5.Injectors, gonna need more fuel if you're gonna add more air. 6.turbo, 16g should be fine for your goals. 7.Boost gauge (stock one sucks) and a boost controller, can monitor how much boost you're making.

Before any mods, make sure maintenence is ALL up to date. Ball joints, tie rod ends, and axels, up front will fail quickly with added power.

+1 on maintenance.

I have a silver spyder also! I love it. Anyway I would say get dsmlink with eeprom ($~500 used), wideband (~200), evoIII 16g with install kit (~$650), 650cc+ injectors (~$175 used), intercooler (~$400), walbro 190 or 255 w/afpr (~$50-$100) and also a set of 272/272 cams (~$275 used). These are just my suggestions and people will tell you other wise, no one is going to be right or wrong. Will you be doing all the work yourself? It would save a ton of money on labor.

Also I say before all these mods you should check the health of the motor, compression test and leak down test.

This is what my setup is kinda like right now except I'm running an FP BT28 and still breaking in my motor, so no numbers yet, but I figure with a good tune I'll be in the neighborhood of 320 whp on pump and 360 whp on e85.

p.s. Traction will start to be a problem when putting down this kind of power on a fwd car, I would also get some prothane motor mounts to help out with traction and wheel hop. If you did everything yourself the total ends up somewhere in the $2500 range.

I had the car checked out by the local dealership in NYC. Besides the lower control arm (I purchased a complete control arm kit), everything seems to be ok. I will not be doing the work myself, I put aside a budget for that. Driving the car down to a buddy in Miami who is going to do some work on the tranny (taking gears 2 & 4 from a GSX and an LSD to be placed in my tranny). He will doing the work. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'd say get a big 16g, 650cc injectors, front mount kit(I suggest short route kit of some kind), 190 or 255 fuel pump(190 should be enough and you wont need an adjustable pressure regulator) a hard intake pipe and cone filter, and you should still be able to tune that with an afc. Im pretty sure you can get all of that for less that 2500.

Damn dude your gonna drive from NYC to Miami to get your car worked on? I'm sure you could find someone local. Or better yet save that gas money, buy some tools and do it yourself. It's not hard. I guess most people probably don't have garages in NYC though.

Towing the car down. Will be in Miami for a month. Besides most of the guys I have ran across in NYC dont work on JDM's and the ones that do, dont have the time. I think the cold weather is the reason LOL.

The cost of an SAFC and a logger is only ~$100 less than a full used dsmlink kit and dsmlink is 50 times better and useful.

Strut Bar Set Megan
FRONT/REAR SWAY BAR
RC Fuel Injectors 750cc
WALBRO 255LPH FUEL PUMP
3" TURBO STAINLESS STEEL CATBACK EXHAUST
DOWNPIPE GST 3"
Turbo Boost Controller
Brian Crower Stage 2 272/272 Cams
BOV + 3" Intercooler Piping Kit
TD06H 20G Turbocharger Turbo 350+HP

Am I missing anything on the list. Trying to get 350hp out of a stock gst spyder. F1 Stage 3 clutch and flywheel installed. Shocks and lowering springs installed. Poly Energy bushings amd mounts (not installed). Complete front control arm kit (not installed).

Umm, what's "JDM" on your car? You know that the DSM is a domestic right?

You are missing an AFPR on the list and why are you going with BC 272 cams? What's your reasoning? If you do go with cams, invest in some insurance and get stiffer valve springs and some retainers. Do some researching before you buy.

3" IC piping is overboard for your goals so just stick with standard 2.5" piping

Just be careful as you are coming to the 2g rod threshold with your HP goals. Make sure all your maintaince and repairs are completed first.
