:talon: Hey guys being the proud owner of my new 90 Tsi I wanted to perform all the proper maintenace steps before i begin to trun up the boost. Any ideas on what I should look for and/or watch out for concerning not only the engine but interior as well. What should I replace before I start adding?

First of all, welcome to the DSM community! This will help, it's taken straight from the Tech Guide... which you should eventually look at because it helps quite a bit...

"Turbocharged cars require more maintenance than N/A cars and unfortunately many owners don't keep up with the required maintanence. It's best to assume the owner before you did not take care of the maintenance properly. Do not attempt to turn up the boost or begin modding your car without doing a full and complete tune up. The first thing you need to do is a complete tune up. Replace all worn belts, including the timing belt and balance shaft belt. If the timing belt/balance shaft belt haven't been replaced within the last 60k miles, or you're not sure when they were last changed - change them now. If they break, you'll be paying for a rebuilt cylinder head (not cheap). You'll also want to change out all filters, fluids, worn hoses, spark plugs/wires, worn/leaking gaskets, check the compression, do a leak-down test, check your ignition timing, etc. Basically, do all of the checks that your repair manual tells you to do - you do have a repair manual already, don't you? If not, pick one up now before moving forward with any modifications."

Happy modding to you :thumb:

thanks alot guys. I know i'm new to the turbocharged world of mitsubishi, but i'm no stranger to turbo cars as i've owned the first SoCal Focus in the 13's, as well as a turbo B16 Civic ( I know it sucked but it was fast), thats why I joined this community and started asking questions. I know that the DSM triplets are alot different then other turbo cars so I want to get started in the right direction.:thumb:

Since you have an older car, you probably want to check the health of your engine, timing, fuel delivery system (fuel filter, air filter), and normal maintence stuff like pcv valve, change fluids, etc.

Just make sure everything is solid before you start adding additional stress to the engine.

Older/higher mileage cars definitely have the potential to nickle-and-dime you to death (speaking from experience)
