So im about to start tuning to use SD. I have the recirculation kit for my HKS BOV. I have a GM IAT in the upper intercooler pipe. tuning using V3 Link.

Question is, should i tune for SD using the gm 3"maf, or tune using the stock maf?

Is there any benefit to going one way over the other? it'd be easier to use the gm maf so i dont have to take apart the BOV to recirculate, but if id get a better tune...

actually i have a omnipower 4bar MAP. but in order to help dial in the VE table, i need to use a MAS. question is which one..

Everyone I know who runs V3 using S.D., they don't use a MAS. So I guess I can't help you. Sorry. I thought there was a function in V3 for an auto-cal for the VE. Either you or I must not understand V3 well. Since I am still on 2.5, could be me.

You dont need the MAS to run it, you need the mas to tune it.

Anybody have $.02 on which mas is better for this?

I got ya.

When it comes down to it, I don't think one is better than the other, unless of course you don't have your GM maf properly calibrated from the get-go.

If the GM maf is already calibrated correctly, and is currently installed, just use that.

If you would have posted on the link forums, I'm sure Tom or one of his cohorts would have been able to give you the more definitive answer.

I would use the stock mas over a GM maf for helping with the adjustment tool. The only reason is that it's very well calibrated when left alone so fine tuning it is easy, whereas the GM maf takes some serious effort to get fine tuned. Honestly though, that adjustment tool is only a rough dial-in in my experience. When we switched my brothers car to SD from a well calibrated GM maf, it still took a lot of fine tuning to get his SD table to where I was happy with it.
