What kind of clutch do you have / should I get?

I was going to order the Feramic clutch from AMS, but when I finally got a hold of them after calling them all day they said that they sold the last one an hour before. So I am wanting to know what kind of other clutch I should get (that's around the same price range) or should I just put off swapping my motor for 2 weeks and waiting on a Feramic? Any help / input is greatly appreciated.

BTW, I basically have an awd eclipse with a 16g.

I know the guy that makes the feramic clutches for ams. Nice guy, i'll see if how many he has and let you know.
 
Yeah, I kind of know the guy too, a friend of mine is getting ready to go work for AMS, anyway, AMS was out of Feramic clutches and I needed one this week so I went ahead and ordered a SPEC 2500lb. with a street disc. Also, I didn't get the 16g like i was suppose to, so it's stock turbo for a few weeks, then I go bigger.
 
well, i just called ams, and they said they don't know when they will have them in again, cause they the manufacturer switched or something, i don't know, but if anybody knows where to get one, i'd like to know, i know the 2600 is proven, but i would like the extra benefit of knowing that i'll have a little less chance of crankwalk, cause i really don't have the money for a new engine right now. any help appreciated, thanks.

hands down the act cluthes are the best. i have used a few different ones and went back to the 2600. i also use the act flywheel and am very happy i did that too. for the money the act is the way to go also. a 2100 with street disk is only $325 and the 2600 with street disk is only $360. the flywheel is $250
 
yea, sorry, don't want to start a flame war here, i didn't want to imply that it caused c-walk, just that it can help it a little, like you said GRNDSM, well, if i can't find a feramic one, i'll go ahead and go with the 2600, i just liked the thought of stock pedal feel, with not so stock grab.

oh yea, whats the difference between the oem disc, and act disc? like turbobrian is mentioning?
 
then buy the 2100 its just like stock feel and good enough to run low 12's and a prob a few high 11 sec cars.

what is that other clutch costing you?
 
well, ams sells the feramic ones for 325, but i've read all over that 2100 isn't good for awd, if i have to have stiffer pedal, to have a better clutch thats going to last longer than 6 months, and not slip, then i'll go that route. cause i'm hoping to get up around at least 300-350hp.

I have a clutch specialties 2900 lb pressure plate and 6 puck sintered metal disk and love it!!! I'd get another in a heartbeat

its on a stock 97 AWD
 
Well my car should be done in the next couple of days, so I guess I'll let everyone know how good a SPEC clutch really is...
