I have a 98 gsx 5 speed. Bought the gsx in October of 2014 with adjustable came gears, bc 272 cams, arp head studs and a evo 3 manifold. So only the head was built. Dont know what head gasket was used by the way. The rest of the motor was stock. The guy told me he kept the setting for the came gears in the middle and a week latter while driving the car the motor went due to the timing never being done. The car had 102k miles now 109k miles. So I sent the car out to a shop in November of 2014 and had them build my revised 7 bolt motor but not the head since it was fine and only had 500 miles on the head which I had paper work for it. Its not bored out. I had upgraded internals put in, 1000cc injectors,a new big fmic, A used pte 5252 i bought with little shaft play (its an older 5252 but says on the turbo 300-5253 so its some type of sc60 turbo), walbro 255, new fuel line and all emission related stuff taken out. The motor was built to handle 650hp. When i was having the work done i found out my trans was rebuilt and my clutch which was oem was just replaced. The trans is soon going to get built because even though it shifts like butter i want a built motor. 2 weeks ago i went to a comp stage 3 clutch. Anyways the motor was done being built in april of 2015. In 2015 i didnt really have any problems with my car other then it smoking from the exhaust. If im correct my friend who knows a lot about dsms and turbos had my car for few days and he said he fixed the smoking from tightening my turbo line. Once i got the car back it never smoked till about a month and a half ago. Last week while i had the car at home my dad tried to fix my car and tightened my turbo feed line but it still smoked. I asked him the next day if the there was an oil feed line and showed him how the line on my phone and he said no so idk if its because its an ball bearing. The turbo doesnt say pte but from what i was told its because Garrett and pte used to use each others parts.

When i boost the car it smokes heavily. Sometimes white and sometimes black. I know black is oil and white is coolant but idk. If i step on my car so in boost it smokes. If i drive my car doesnt matter how long and park it then the next day when I leave with my car my drive has oil spots. There not small spots but bigger oil spots. I tried looking to see where it could be leaking but i think its the oil pump housing but not sure. I cant seem to find out where its leaking but its from the oil filter area. Where could it be? Like where does it leak most of the time from what i have said. I know its not the oil pan.

When i drive my car and get home and look at my motor there is oil on my spark plug cover but it looks like it was coming from the oil cap. I had a oil cap on there from an newer eclipse that i was able to paint red and use but i just went back to the stock oil cap because it seems like the o-ring on the cap wasnt sealing tight enough to keep the oil from leaking out. But idk what else could be causing it to leak. Like i said before i have to add oil when i get home or before i drive. Not a lot of oil but still.

When i see white smoke from the exhaust it leads me to think my head gasket is done for and needs replacing but my car doesnt over heat or throw a code. I know i need to do a compression test to find out but idk how to do so and right now with bills and all i dont have money to pay a shop to do so. Id like to do it my self but again dont know how. If i do what head gasket should i use and mm size? Idk if something else is making the coolant to leak and burn to make the car smoke white. Also cant think of anything else other then coolant that would cause white smoke

Now on to my turbo. Like i said its a older 5252 ball bearing turbo and if im correct doesnt have an oil feed line but a turbo feed line. People have told me it could need a rebuild and thats why my car is smoking badly. But if it was done for and needed a rebuild why does it spool fine and not make any noise. My car doesnt over heat also. If i was to drive my car now and boost to 19 where i have it set at it would get there fine but smoke bad and smell like something was burning. So idk why the black smoke. Drove the car an hour away on sunday not boosting more then 5psi and it only smoked a little. Then when leaving from where i was to go 2 minutes away i stepped on the car to show my friend how bad it smokes and of course it smoked but i saw smoke coming from the front also went i parked the car. so idk

When i drive the car and finally park the car after my drive and look under the hood i see oil on the underneath of my hood but idk why that is.

If its my turbo i can send my turbo to turbo lab and have them rebuild it for $80 if im correct but not sure on the price. My goal for my car is 600 maybe 700 so is it worth it to rebuild my turbo? Then i have a chance to trade some dsm parts i have for a newer pte 6266 turbo with only 1000 miles on it but the thing is like i said before im short on money and will need bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump if not a second walbro 255 and a t4 manifold. I already have a tial 38mm wastegate but might need a bigger wastegate also. A friend of mine said i could get a t3 6266 housing and use my t3 manifold for now till i have enought money for a good t4 manifold but idk where to find the t3 housing for that turbo.

This might be long but its needed. Thanks in advance

Sorry but sounds like the car has alot of issues. If its leaking more than a few drops of oil over night you need to fix that asap.
Then do a compression and leakdown to make sure the motor is in heathly enough condition to make power.

Also 80$ to rebuild a turbo is probably not the correct price....normally its 300-1000 depending on kind and whats needed

Black smoke is not burning oil; blue smoke is. Gray/white smoke under heavy throttle may just be excess carbon deposits being burnt off. A sea foam treatment may help with this. Thick white smoke could be a blown head gasket, or a blown turbo. Both of which should result in lots of smoke out of the exhaust even at idle. The black smoke could be a result of running rich.

Do you have any way to monitor AFR? Did you check your oil for signs of coolant? Do you see bubbles in your coolant reservoir when the car is running? Does the car smoke while driving casually down the street, during WOT, during deceleration, or all of the above? It definitely sounds like you have more than one issue occurring.

Sounds like you have a fire waiting to happen. Oil leaking all over everything, and burning off the exhaust at wide open throttle.

Your best bet is to take the car to someone capable of doing a proper diagnosis of all its issues.
