and do I need to take a gasket for it? mine got taken off by the shop and they gave it to me back in a box. Do you need a gasket for it?

That's your oil distribution block or HLA pressure regulator... I hope that the shop put another on it there, or your cam & lifter oil passages will be starved for oil!

From the factory, Mitsu doesn't use a gasket.

no i mean i got the head back from the shop being surfaced and new valves put in and they took that thing off as well as my cam sensor and put it in a box for me to put back on.

I just stole the pic of the head off google images.
I just didn't know if I needed a gasket for it or not, i'm putting it all together and back on the car tomorrow.

just bolt it back on, it dont need a gasket. do you know how to put the cas back on in the right position and not 180 out.

I just use a timing light while grounding the timing pin for setting base timing.

No big deal. It only supplies your head components with oil.

Thank you kadietsi! I am planning on building a head soon and was also wondering if that needed a gasket as i could not find a pn anywhere. And i was also curious about the cas position!

You will need a timing light for final adjustment, but to make sure it's not 180 out: 1)Set the engine to TDC. 2) Locate the marks on your 1g CAS, and align them. 3) Stick the CAS into the side of the head.
