New here...first time with a dsm. I was changing the oil for the first and noticed a (nipple) without a hose to it. Upon closer inspection, I feel that something should be hooked up to this. Here is a pic....

I also noticed some oil pooling up on the valve cover...I checked to see if the head was cracked...didn't see any problems. I'm assuming that the spark plug gaskets/valve cover gasket needs replacing? Or could it just be the previous owner spilled oil in there while he was performing an oil change?

(Note, I cleaned up some oil before I took the picture)

I am outside changing the oil as we speak...share your dsm wisdom with me. Thanks all.

Solution
1. That nipple is the bleeder valve for the slave cylinder. You only need to attach a hose on there when you bleed the clutch's hydraulic system (like bleeding brakes).

2. It could be your spark plug well gaskets, as well as your oil cap gasket. I'd replace the two you mentioned along with the oil cap one and see if that helps. If not, your valve cover might be cracked.

Edit:
Damn you snowboarder.

Also The oil thing. Its a common issue. Replace your valve cover gasket, and your oil cap or the o-ring on the oil cap.

Wow...thanks for the fast responses guys. I searched a little and saw that it was most likely the gaskets. I'll look into all those things. Thanks again. :thumb:
