I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

The fwd was my only issue. I have always wanted one. But the awd in this area are beat up and the nice one no one's selling. Other than buying this car for weekend terrors I plan on autocrossing it.Do you think that I could autocross this? Or is this a bad idea?

Well worth it. Make sure you take good care of it . DSMs are quickly fading away its getting tougher and tougher to get a clean shell. Maybe Mitsubishi will make a body that fits the motor again LOL .Its definitely well worth it? are you sure its still available?

Hey guys, so I've been looking for a car to get to and from work that has some kick with it. My Grand Cherokee is killin me on gas right now. I found this http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/cto/4520000014.html I know it's the FWD and I'm okay with that I wouldn't do much more than what has been done already. Can I have your opinions on it please? Thanks!
reasonable but for it to have all these money parts i kinda expected more pictures id try to get it for 3k. Since its Cali it has no rot so 3600 is a fair price my opinion as long as it runs with NO issues

Whats everyones thought on this gsx? It was a florida car, so most likely 0 rust, low mileage, love the color, and they said they could ship it to me back to florida. Kind of expensive but do you guys think its worth it if it wasn't beat on, 1 owner, well maintenanced, etc? Forgot to ask the salesman on the phone about a car report, and he said he has a little room to work with on the price.

i would pay 2500 tops 2800 only because turbo cars get beat down and a dsm is not the most reliable... the dsm link is nice and its a good starting point to build on

Already seeing that the owner doesn't know anything about the car would lead me to believe it hasn't been taken care of.. since the car is on a jack, makes me think that he hasn't really had any time with it. I would personally stay away from this as you don't really know what to look for.. we do have a good thread for buying used cars, and I would check it out. If your up for actually CHECKING the car out then it's worth a go, if your just going to go based off the ad, then I would stay away.

Do all the parts match up with what the car should be running? It's sounds like a good deal with everything being rebuilt. If the car is improperly tuned with a loss of hp am I going to ruin it driving it? Will I be in over my head?

He's got 450cc stock manual injectors in this thing with a wally 255, which the pump is way too powerful with those small injectors. Been better off with a wally 190, or even stayed with the stock pump.

Guy's done a lot with the thing and really hasn't a clue how to operate it properly.

Give him $2000 cash and see if he bites, but no three grand being an automatic since never explained anything on the replaced tranny and what maintenance and care he's done for the tranny.

..and this thread will be moved sometime...

Who says it's rebuilt? Do they have recipts? I doubt it as they don't even know the mileage it was rebuilt. If you want my honest opinion, I would read, read, and read even more while you wait for the perfect deal to come along, in my opinion this isn't it.

He told me 2400 miles on the tranny he agreed to 2500 as it is what would be the reliability of it if I ran low bots just as a daily driver?

Understandable and I appreciate all the help only thing that has gone answered is wether or not it will harm the engine with it not being tuned lacking some horse power. And how much is it going to cost me to tune it myself with the help of your amazing forums

That's a very open question, there are a million ways to tune, one being my favorite DSMlink. It's about 450 (if I remember correctly) for the package, and then you'll need an EPROM ECU. If you tune it yourself, be sure you read, read and do some more reading. If you plan to pay someone to remotely tune it, I suggest MY1gDSM, great guy, and knows how to do one hell of a job tuning. This is OUR forum, we all contribute and share our passion here, welcome to it.
