I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

You will need a WB for a more accurate way of tuning, the EGT does a good job but has a very slow response to A/F changes, Having the link on the car is great way of tuning :thumb:

WB ftmfw!

Im more worried about losing creature comforts like power steering and ac .....

Ive alread investigated what it will take to put the ac back on, ill have to look into what it will take to put the PS back on, they both operate off of the same accesory belt i assume?

Take it for a test drive. That might help you make the choice.

The choice to drive it home.... LOL. :thumb:

I also wonder about the timing belt cover, easyer to check? not a big deal i suppose. But he says he has all the parts so i could put the accessories back on if i wanted.

It just looks like a decent start. Maybe a couple upgrades and some tuning. Im thinking WB, Tial Bov(if it needs upgrading),4" CAI (it looks like a stock intake with k&n), and maybe DSMlink v3.

Ill see what happens i have all week to think about it.

My friend is selling a 5 spd non turbo 1989 Dodge Colt with 200000 Miles. The outside is in pretty good shape but the inside is like a hog pin to put it mildly...

I am thinking about doing a 4g63 swap into it, I know I need the motor mounts off a turbo mirage, 1g 4g63, 1g fwd tranny, 1g flywheel, ecu, and wiring harness.

I can get the car for $200

After all the parts I should have about $2000 plus the price of the car. I have a FP Big 16g, 2g ex manifold and other stuff laying around.

Now how hard are these turbo mirage motor mount to find?

I was refered to 4g61t.org and haven't registered there yet, I figured I would post the info on here first.

Here are some pictures of it.

I'd buy that thing in a heart beat for $200.
Colts are sweet! And for the motor mounts you could probably check a junkyard. But they might be all rusty and garbage. Sorry I couldn't tell you.

Definitely sign up and read the archives, when you do you'll find out that there are other mounts that work too, no need to find the ultra rare original turbo mounts or one of our guys can fab up what you need. ;) You'll want to do new bearings/bushings in the frontend as well, these things like to go all over the place at around 130 and higher. You'll need the correct axles too, they can range from $250-300 without cores. Buy it!

I'd take it for $200. I'd practically rip it out of his hands before he changes his mind. I joined this site because of a dodge colt like that one. Just a lot worse shape. Do those cars usually have rust problems, like on the body, floorboards, ect.?

Here's the underside of my Colt after nearly 20 years. Solid as a rock.

The fender lips are the first to go along with the roof rust bubbles due to the moisture holding glue they used to secure the roof skin to the roof structure.

Jeese, I really didn't think DSM guys thought so negatively about F-bodies. That's really sad to see.

Nah, we're all assholes, we think negatively about any other car then a DSM.

Wait, there's cars outside of DSMs? Holy shit...
Anyways, we're just giving you a hard time.
Most of the domestic guys hate our cars, but you respect them, so you're one of us.

:p

Also, Cory, I saw an AWESOME condition colt in the Eagle Junkyard, I was so tempted to ask how much.
But I can't deal with another car :p

Most domestic guys think that there's no replacement for displacement too. I have a pretty good hunch that forced induction is a replacement for displacement though. a lot of guys in the domestic world get challenged by ricers. You know the type. They can hardly drive auto, let alone manual. Their cars are all stock except for the 500 lbs sound system. You would laugh too.
Giving me a hard time? You guys are mean! Ha ha.
