I just bought the Charged Air unit a month ago...so, they still make it. BUT the service does suck a$$. I saw on DSMotorsport's web site that Charged Air had gone out of business after I ordered it and they had my credit card number. So I e-mailed them asking if they were outta business and if I should order from elsewhere and the guy who wrote back was a complete a$$ about it telling me that they are going to be the biggest, best turbo company ever as soon as they move and I should "chill out" (exact words) because they can't update their website every minute or ship out exactly when I order something. Keep in mind this was a month later after no word from them. I think he honestly believe I was a mind reader.
But, even though the people there suck, its the cheapest way to go with a 1G fuel rail.

I may order my fuel setup from them.
This is the route I plan on going. I'm going to replace everything between the stock fuel line at the bottom of the fuel filter all the way to the fuel rail. This means AN adapters for the stock line where the fuel filter used to be, braided SS line with AN fittings, inline fuel filter, and AN adapter for the end of the fuel rail. From what I've read, this may even delay the need for an AFPR for a while, maybe longer. And it'll make the fuel filter change a lot easier in the future.

This setup is supposed to be good for well over 300HP, since the biggest restriction in the stock fuel setup is the filter and the banjo bolt on top of it. I probably won't even need a new fuel pump. From all I've read about it, I can't understand why modding the fuel system this way isn't more popular-- it seems like a much more elegant solution than just sticking a bigass pump onto a restrictive fuel line.

Are you going to buy someone's "kit" to do this? It's just a bunch of fittings..

No, I already put together the list of fittings and stuff I need. Now I just need to get it all and install it. I'm getting most of the fittings and fuel line from Summit. Probably the fuel filter too.

I have a 1g engine/fuel rail, and I removed my stock fuel pressure regulator, threaded the inside of it, and put a 90 degree fitting on the end. I then screwed on my anodized red OBX FPR (with a gauge), hooked up my vacuum line and fuel return line, and I was good to go. Im pretty happy with my setup, just dont forget the liquid teflon to seal it all up. Just for kicks, I tested to see how much fuel pressure I could get through it, and I easily got it to 75psi, and could have probably gone higher..........so then I turned it back down before I got any stupid ideas.
moral is: I like my OBX.

I've done 5 S/X regulator installs on 1g & 2g cars.

They are all done the same way.

Tap the regulator end of the rail for 18x1.5 mm. Use an adapter to convert that to -6 (or -8). Russel & Earls both sell these. Apply jb weld to the threads prior to assembly.

Find a place to install the regulator, and then plumb it using standard A/N fittings.

I've yet to have a rail fitting leak... and some of the cars have been daily drivers for several years.

Hi,

Will the Aeromotive AFPR fit onto the stock fuel rail on a 2g eclipse gsx. If I get a Aeromotive AFPR, a Walbro 255lph (High Pressure) Fuel Pump, and leave teh stock fuel rail, or get one from a 1g will I need to upgrade the injectors for it. I have plans of upgrading the turbo, and getting a electronic boost gauge, but that is much firther on down the road, so I was just wondering if I should get aftermarket fuel injectors now or wait.

Thanks,
Bill

Just so you guys know, I ordered the Charged Air FPR about 3 weeks ago (on Website). No order confirmation, call or FPR.

Looks like I'm gonna go a different route.

I believe you will need some AN adapters for the Aeromotive AFPR. At least the ones I've seen are either -6 or -10 AN in and out. There's a guy on eBay selling the adapters.

You don't HAVE to put in the bigger injectors now-- just watch your duty cycle on the current ones with whatever logger you have.

Hi,

I am looking into getting a 2g gsx. When I get it I will put on a ACT clutch, B&M shortshifter, autometer vac./boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge and 5 inch monster tach, a HKS Racing blowoff valve type II, a RNR full 3" turbo back exhasut, ported stock headers, a Dejontool intake, HKS cams and cam gears, an unorthadox pulley set, and hopefully a chip. Do I have to upgrade my fuel system (pump, regulator, rail, filter, and injectors) to cover these mods or can I do it after I do these mods before I upgrade my turbo and get an electronic boost controler.

Thanks,
Bill

No, the stock system can handle what you listed, but you may want to at least check the voltage on your stock pump to see if you need to rewire it with heavier gauge wire. Some people report better performance with a rewired pump. If you're gonna upgrade the pump, the rewire may be needed more.

IMO, you don't need cams at this point. Also, the turbo cars don't have "headers", just an exhaust manifold-- I believe you mean that you'll port the stock manifold, which is good.

You'll need some kind of boost control up front, whether it's manual or electronic. For now you can just get a decent MBC and be good to go.

And you don't need a chip-- there really isn't a decent one for these cars anyway. And they don't need one.

Thanks a lot for the advice. So I can do these upgrades on the stock fuel system, with the rewire kit for the fuel pump if I want to. Also why would I need a boost controller just for these upgrades, just wondering.

Thanks a lot,
Bill

Well, you don't NEED one unless you want to run higher than stock boost, which is anywhere from 12-14, depending on the car. You can safely run 15 or so on the stock turbo. You'll be OK with the stock BCS for now though, and you can do the BCS restrictor mod to add another PSI or two. And a MBC will spool your turbo a little faster too, from what I've read.
