As for the 2G manifold ported I would just got with a SBR ported if I was going to do that. I know people have made okay power with a 2G manifolf ported

I like to try to stay with your original post/subject. Although, the manifolds do depend on the application. As I read through this post it seems like you should go (yes, I'm sorry I am giving my opinion on your choice) with the SBR manifold if you don't want the stock 2g ported. Unless you want to spend the money on the tubulars but not be able to get the benefits. The stock mani is a great piece, but I certainly do like the look of the new SBR. But I would never be able to justify the price difference between buying a used stock 2g uncracked and porting it out, and buying the SBR. I'm not going below 10's and there are plenty out there that make 10's out of the stocker.

The sbr cast manifold is for people too lazy to port a 2g manifold.
Or for people who don't have the skill, or for people that don't have the time.
I ported out my own 02 housing and did some minor porting on my turbo, but I'm not taking the time to port out my 1g, or spend money on a 2g I'm gonna have to modify anyway. So yeah, I bought the best flowing cast manifold on the market for a dsm (before the new version). For less than 300 bucks I think it's worth it. Besides, to those who don't know our cars it looks stock, its got stealth factor. ;) Once again, I recomend a cast manifold- sbr.

The SBR manifold not only has slightly larger runners and collector, but it also has the added benefits of a thicker flange to give you more clearance for those bigger compressor housings. You also cant forget it has a flange for an external gate already built in. Its a well thought out, versatile piece that appeals to alot of peoples plans/budgets.

I like the old SBR manifolds. they looked good. i hate the new style with the wastegate spot already built in. it's a good idea for people who want to run a gate their but i think it looks stupid if you are not. unless SBR is offering it two different ways( old style and new). But as far as flow goes it is worth every dollar. my friend has the old style and he loves it. the extra thick flange is awesome for when you want to run a large turbo so you don't have to dent the water pipe.

Just an FYI, we will have 100 more of the old style here in about two weeks.

You'd buy a cast manifold based on looks?

The "New" SBR cast manifold was redesigned to flow 15% more than the previous one. It flows alittle more similar to a turbular one but, it is not the same thing. The collector looks alittle different than the previous manifold or the Evo 3. I love the way the new manifold angles the turbo away from the motor. I have outstanding spool and great topend power. If you don't like the way the wastgate flange looks then don't get it. I fabricated a heat shield out of 1/16" think ss and it looks clean.

A well designed, and well built Header will out flow, increase spool time and put out better numbers then a cast manifold would anyday. Its been tested in the past to pick up a few mph in the 1320 just off the manifold alone.

Ill agree with a few of you when you say there is no need or even worth the money to use on on a smaller turbo such as 16g's or bolt on style turbos with a mitsu turbine housing. Something like a t/3 or t/4 turbine housings i would look into one.

Only one thing to think about when it comes to chooseing a manifold, go with a company who takes pride in there work and does a great job, such as AMS, Buschur, and Shearer along with a few other shops out there but these shops ive seen there work first hand.

i like the cast manifold due to just pull out old put in new. Cast based on looks, thats just wrong go buy a tubular based on that than.i rather keep as much space open under my hood so i went with the cast manny the new style from sbr.I've never really been into the whole tubular or headers side, so i rather go with the cast. Plus look at the price for performance cant beat it :thumb:
