Can someone please explain this to me. I know it measures pressure, but what is its purpose? Is it for ecu calculations? And if so, is it going to affect my cars performance if I am getting a CEL P1400 for it? Thanks

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. Contrary to it's name, it only measures vacuum in the manifold. 2Gs have an MDP, or Manifold Differential Pressure sensor which measures both vacuum and pressure in the manifold. They are both used for air metering/fuel control by the ecu.

On the 2g, the MDP exists only to make sure that your EGR system is operating.

:thumb: Your MAS (airflow sensor) measures the air your bringing in. MDP/MAP is for emissions (EGR) only.
