I was planning on getting a custom 5k rpm converter with translab shift kit and a clutch kit. Im just wondering b4 i order, will this brake my car anywhere?? 5k rpm is alot idk do i need to upgrade anything else or am i safe with the 5k. btw, whats the highest stall i can get b4 i need mods? thanks in advance guys :dsm: :talon:

also with a high stall converter how long can i brake boost for (time length) i know yur not supposed to do it for more than a couple of seconds on the stock one but i build little or no boost fromt that. I want to beable to step on it, rev it up and get all 20psi of the line. what should i do? thanks

You don't need a 5k stall converter, not with the mods you have now. A 3000 to 3500rpm stall is more than enough for your setup and beyond. I would strongly suggest you also look into a larger Trans cooler if you plan on Brake boosting the car at the track. In general it's a good thing to upgrade to a larger trans cooler anyway.
I run an IPT re-stalled stock TQ converter, it stalls to 4200rpm, that allows me to build 18psi to leave the line. This takes about 4 to 5 seconds for my 60trim to spool up to that before i let off the brake and go. You don't want to brake boost much longer than that because the friction causes huge amounts of heat to build up in the trans fluid and you need flowing air over the trans cooler for it to work best..

Word of advice, after a hard run that includes a brake boost launch, let the car sit in neutral for a few minutes to circulate the trans fluid thru the cooler a few times.

Final word, if you plan on making a street car into a street/race car plan for things to break. "IT Just Happens." Make sure your trans is in "good" working condition before modding it, also check your axles and CV joints/boots for damage or wear. Make sure fluids are changed/checked religiously, (motor oil, Trans fluid, Read diff you have AWD, power steering fluid and brake fluid) Use synthetics whenever possible, because they take heat better before breaking down.

This is the basics for now, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

alright, well my future mods will probably be a fmic and a bigger turbo and ill be fine for now till i actually live on my own and have a real job. So would 3500stall be enough for a 400whp car?? like is it good enough to get all my power to the ground? i have a super 16g turbo now, how much psi you think i could launch at? thanks
