So i currently have a 16g turbo on a 97 gsx. 3in dp and 2.5in catback. i think im currently boosting around 14psi based on my boost gauge. i dont have a boost controller yet. just wondering what i need to buy to safely up my boost to around 20-25psi. heres a list i made of things to buy. does this sound good?

Injectors- (im guessing around 650's?)
walbro fuel pump- (190 should be plenty?)
mbc- (grimmspeed?)
wideband- (aem ugeo)

does that seem like all i would need?

Add Safc, dsmlink, or ecu flash..

I would also reccomend arp headstuds, and a fmic or supra sidemount..Also an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, if going with a 255 pump..And why go with 650's I would go with something bigger so you have room to grow..

Also you mentioned 16g turbo..Which one?

What do you have to tune with.... And if you don't have a boost controller your probably not at 14 psi
I would just get a wally 255 and afpr and not have to worry about it again and same with injectors 950 cc and hallman pro it

well in full boost my turbo bar gauge is at 1.0. I beleive its a hahn racing 16g. I already have a fmic.

I dont know how i could be boosting at 14psi without a boost controller. But thats what its reading.

The stock boost gauge is useless. You need a real boost gauge.

Also like mentioned add tuning equipment and I'd agree with headstuds.

Hallman pro MBC. turn it up till you hit fuel cut. then turn it back so that you dont have fuel cut. then save up for engine management because thats all the free boost your gonna get :thumb:

Engine management options:
1 (one) of:
-SAFC/AFC (worst, but gets the job done, $)
-Jackal/Ostrich with Speed density (like ecmlink but rougher GUI, $-$$)
-ECMlink (very popular, very user friendly, $$-$$$)
-AEM EMS (overkill. can do anything pretty much $$$$+)
AND each of these:
-WBO2, (Innovate>AEM most cases) w/ gauge
-Boost Gauge (calibrated better than yours...)
-MBC (hallman = solid and decent price)
Optional:
-EGT gauge
-Water temp gauge
-Oil pressure Gauge
-etc...

the logger will (should, unless you are dumb/careless) keep you from a dangerous lean condition as long as you tune carefully. that way you can always have the max out of wour setup, and the logs will give your peers with more exp information to give you good reccommendaitons on what you will NEED to take your WHOLE SYSTEM to the next level, with pumps, injectors etc...

Exhaust and other stuff fits in there as well, not too hard to figure out.

EDIT:
Why just 20-25 psi? is that mad tight yo? are your JDM friends telling you thats the magic #? WTF

I can hit 20+ psi thru my gauge, the recirc blow off sounds mad tyte too. i just dont get ANY power from it because of fuel cut It actually looks really funny. (that was during my first run setting up my mbc, got too impatient turning it up...)

Id recommend head studs too. ARP's will do you well, and a layered steal head gasket is a must. While you have the head off, check to make sure its true, and resurface, or deck it if needed. Fuel pump, injectors, AFPR, and some sore of tuning program. DSMlink is the easiest to work with, i believe, but there are cheaper solutions!

i already have a greddy boost gauge. thats the one telling me 1.0 bar in full boost. Also i have a greddy ext temp gauge. Sits around 7 most of the time.

So i guess first get a hallman mbc, turn it up as far as i can without fuel cut, and then upgrade from there to get rid of the fuel cut?

That's why you have to keep an eye on the boost gauge when wot..I have seen about 20 in creep on a 16g..But Then I let off trying to save myself from hurting the engine, and hitting fuel cut..

Also an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, if going with a 255 pump..

Curious as to why he would need a fpr if he goes with a 255 pump?

OP, save your money when it comes to buying an fpr right away and use it for something else you dont need one and will be fine with the stock fpr and 255 pump....

I FULLY agree what you are saying but it's just that OP makes it sound like he is not able to push the turbo past 14psi.. that is what seems odd.

Not getting creep with a 16g does seem kinda odd..But most of us are using mhi turbo's..His is a hahn 16g..I don't know if they found a way not to make it creep or not..

I guess I would have to hear from the turbo genious around here if, he knows something we don't..

so all this info is great. just wondering if its a good idea to get a mbc and go from there? i dont know whats a safe level for stock internals. i just figured if im at 14psi now, i nice increase would be around 20. And i dont even know how im at 14 without having a boost controller. all i know it what my greddy gauge is saying.
