2G what ecu for 2g

I have an 95 auto 2g talon tsi awd non abs. can I use any 2g ecu? I searched the vfaq and I am still confused.

There are 4 different styles of ECUs for 2gs.

• 95 EPROM ECU. It will work on 95-96 without any changes.

• 96 ECU. It works on a 95-96 without changes. It takes the same modifications as the 95 ECU to work on a 97-99.

• 97 ECU. It will work on a 97-99 without changes. To work with a 95-96, you'll need to swap injector pins at the ecu and the pins at the ecu for the cas plug pins.

• 98/99 plastic case ECU. It will work on a 97-99 without changes. To work with a 95-96, you'll need to do the same changes as with the 97 ECU. It's flashable with an Openport 2.0 cable and EcuFlash.

You can factor one more time into two groups:

95/96 and 97-99. Within a group the ECU's are the interchangable manual or automatic and FWD or AWD except for the speed limiter on the cars that came with H rated tires.

I am planning on tuning it so I can change the speed limiter I hope. So a fwd or 5 spd will work on my auto awd? I will aim for a 95 or 96 ecu.

or you could pick up an aem ems if u are planning on tuning the series 1 can be had for pretty cheap and can do anything you'll ever want to do , i run one in my car and i love tuning on it. but if u want the series 2 be ready to drop some coin

no I want use dsmlink. I am just going to send mine out if it needs socketed. I was just seeing some for sale for a good price.

If you haven't already, keep an eye at the classifieds, there are usually one or two ecu's + ecmlink on there!
