What ECU can i use on my 95 Talon tsi other then 95

whar are the years of ecus can i used on my 95 tsi other then the one from stock.Could i used 97 or even 99 from eclipse or talon please help i want to usd my friends mit ecu on my talon his car is a 97.Also how do i know if i have apron ecu please send help thanks.

You can use 95 or 96. Otherwise you will need dsmlink to make a 97-99 work as some of the electronics are different. I believe the cas is reversed, or something to do with the coilpack makes it so it won't run, unless you have dsmlink to change it I don't believe it will work. I tried searching here and vfaq, but I didn't come up with much. I suck at searching. But maybe someone with a 2g or more 2g experience can answer this one for you.

Any 2G turbo ECU can be made to work, but if you use a 97+ you will have to swap plug wires. Also, only AWD ECUs don't have the speed governor in factory configuration, but I know at least some FWD turbo ECUs can be "re-jumpered" so the ECU thinks it's in an AWD car and removes the governor. You might also have some small issues, like some of the 97+ cars having phantom knock when using a 95 ECU, but I'm not sure as each case seems to be a little different.

By "apron", I'll assume you mean Eprom. Check DSMLink's site.

if you want to check for eprom...just look on the ECU itself...it'll have an E in the corner of the cover if it is.

But out of curiosity...why do you want to use his..is yours fried?
