What does a o2 dump do?

Just a stupid question I probably missed it somewhere and no I didn't search.

An o2 dump is an o2 housing that dumps it's excess boost from the wastegate into the atmosphere instead of back into the downpipe.

[EDIT] a Exhaust dump tube does not dump excess boost, it directs excess exhaust gases away from the turbine (bypassing it) but instead of the exhausts bypassing the turbine and re-entering the downpipe it dumps it into the atmosphere in order to control boost. It's loud as fcuk.



Wtf is up with these newbies? They know they should search they mention they DIDNT search (and ive seen a few others who have done the same thing). The site should have some probation period for people like this. Or make it so that the poster cannot post until a mod approves the post (for newbies ~30+ day period) or the mod can approve the account to have no probation.. If I were a mod I woulda banned or suspended your ass for being so ignorant.

Ah.... I see.... I meant excess pressure in the exhaust manifold...which in turn creates pressure in the intake side of things (boost) I definately know the difference between a BOV and a wastegate.
