I am going to the dyno Friday and I was wondering what you guys think I will make to the wheels with my mods. I dynoed last time at 198whp and 223tq at 13psi on a stock turbo. Since then, I have installed a dnp tubular manifold, 14b, 2.5" tubular o2 housing, 2.5" to 3" Apex'i downpipe, 3" gutted Catco Cat, 3" Apex'i Dunk Catback....8lb flywheel??

I'm going to run the first one at 14psi and the second one at 18psi....
 
but apparently here we like to bench race :tease:

didn't read the list closely but if you don't have injectors I dont really recommend turning it up to 18 psi.. but that's up to who's dynoeing your car and the skill they possess
 
That's it...that's crap. I was hoping for 260-275ish...wow, I was way off...What psi would you guys recommend then if not 18? I'm tryin to get to 300whp. Would like a big/evo3 16g get me there with injectors or should I get cams/cam gears?
 
hey i want the same with my 14b, i would suggest a MAFT setup or a SAFC2 so you can tune the car ive heard some people knock off up to a whole second off the 1/4 time by tuning with these devices and its cheaper than DSMlink...but not as great...also cams and cam gears would be nice if you on a budget try the 1g cams and some skunk2 cam gears the 1g cams are all over the classifieds if your looking to go expensive and get your bang for the buck try the HKS 264/264 or 264/272 even, Comp Cams Stage 1 are about the same and 200 dollars less also, cams should almost get you to where you want to but your going have to tune tune tune!!! :thumb:
 
yea i have the maft setup with the SAFC to fine tune the setup, but im still waiting to get a datalogger and thena JRC FMIC,ill take it to the dyno then and let you know what i got after this ill prolly throw on some comp cams and a cam gears, tune it and hopefully get close to 300whp, theres a guy on here that made 321 AWD horsepower and 290AWDWHP untuned on his Galant VR4 with the 6 bolt and a 14 with stock head and block its in the forums somewhere :thumb:
 
300 is possible with a 14b.. but it'll be killer on it's life span.

if you didn't get them yet, even if you stick with the 14b... you WILL need a fuelpump and injectors, no questions asked.

cams > cam gears if possible also. a healthy set of 272's will help your "peak"
 
Personally I don't recommend the cam gears. They are more trouble than they are worth in my opinion. Lets justs say in my friends and my 2G race car, we run 135+mph with stock cam gears. He had a set of AEM's spin on him. Bent all the intake valves on his daughters car.

i would say near 250hp. Just deosn't sound like you have a lot going on there. Just tune the car to be safe. Not for power. I have two friends with similar setups. One is a Evo III 16g and the other is a small 16g. The small is tuned a lot better and is faster and makes more power than the Evo III. At less boost tool.

Please don't tune for power. Tune for a well running car. You can hear the car run better as the tune gets better. Things start to come alive.

The abovew mentioned small 16g started life at 217awhp. Now the car is pumping out 330awhp. Just by tuning. I tuned out 204awhp in my 1G. Went from 243awhp to 447awhp in 35 pulls. So you tell me where the power comes from. Its not so much the parts. They just help the process.

well i would think that how big your injectors are shouldnt matter, (unless they cant flow enof, then you need bigger injectors) because you shouldnt ever be running at 100% idc with any injectors, so how big they can flow doesnt really matter....its not like at idle he will be flowing 680cc per cylinder per rpm.... that would go through a tank of gas in no time... as for the 16g, search for 14b 321whp and maybe galant vr4, he made 321 whp on a 14b set up, see what he has, run more mods than him, and expect less hp than him,... that way you wont be depressed if you dont make it, and if you make over 320, then you should be happy... either way if you get those injectors and fuel pump in, that safc will come in handy very quickly.... i also have a goal of 300 whp with 14bs, but i havent desided where ill go from there... if i had to choose now id say an evoIII would cut it,.. but i would like something bigger, like that twinscroll evo6 turbo i saw ($1300 YIKES),... or a full garret (IN MY DREAMS)...
