Hey guys so i'm getting my college grant money soon and a DSM has been a dream of mine since the age of 6. I was browsing civics, integras etc etc and decided to take another look at a GST/GSX (never planned on buying one due to the headaches my brother had with his but his was modded a lot more than this one). So to get to the point what do you guys think of this ad? Is it worth it etc etc? My neighbor works for Carmax and offered to come with me to look at cars I just want to keep this stock and enjoy it <3. The ad is below along with an e-mail response from him (returned my e-mail).

the milage on the chasis is 176000,the engine was changed 20,000 miles ago.
i changed the engine myself, the engine i got it from my friend totalled eclipse gst,he was rear ended,
his car had 55,000 original miles when i got it from his car.
so my engine and tranny have about 75000 miles right now..
the car has no problems what so ever..it only has a noise in the right rear
it sqeaks sometimes but i think it just needs new bushings.
but other than that everything is good."

I have bought 3 running GSX and a non running GST and have not spent 4K

Maybe police impounds or repos. But I highly doubt you got 3 running daily driver canidates for under 1,000 each.

Now, to say it cranked and ran, and that it is a suitable daily are 2 totally different things. I bought my current GS-T for 1,100. I drove it home. But It was not daily ready. Blown headgasket, low compression on 2 cylinders, was overheating when boosted etc.

4,000$ is a good price for a clean no problems GS-T or GSX

I personally wouldn't even touch it.. There's a buyer's guide on here somewhere for things to look at.

Just for perspective, I got my 1997 Eclipse GSX, automatic, bone bone BONE stock, running perfect and only 87k miles for 3400. It had a small dent and that's about it.

California is not the best state to get "clean" deals..
You are lucky if you find a nice un touched DSM.
Looks nice, especially the color

He lives in Cali, where all imports are 15x's the price of other areas. I paid a buttload for mine just to find a clean one. i feel I got hosed but in the end, I found the exact car I've always wanted. I paid for it, but it's mine.

How would I convince my brother to get his approval? I'm waiting for my college grants I mean he can't really stop me but I would like his approval. He had his own 2G Eclipse and it was sorta built ( I don't remember I was like 11) and he was putting down 290 whp and his motor blew. I mean obviously if you modify your car you're introducing a bigger risk factor versus a stock example. I just want a clean daily driver example I am a young person (turning 18 in October) but I am responsible enough to understand the consequences of doing stupid shit and abusing your car.

I found another deal this one seems better.

1995 Talon TSi AWD

"Cheapest on cl. Runs and drives excellent, no issues. Clean title registered until 2012! 140,000 miles engine rebuilt recently. Won't last."
