Well I think im about do for a rebuild, I have 151K miles and I think its good insurance if I rebuild my motor before a throw on my big 16g, injectors, afc, and a 50 shot of wet nitrous. I was wondering if anyone has used this rebuild kit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ecli...ryZ33620QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I havent heard of ACL before or ITM.

And cylinder head rebuild kit.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4G63...ryZ33620QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have heard that the topline rebuild kit off slowboy isn't all that good, can you guys steer me in the right direction? Im looking to make 350 to 400 whp on my car and it is a daily driver. Should I just go with 2g pistons and reuse my 1g big rods for the setup? How much will those internals be able to handle? I want my motor to be as reliable as it can since I do drive it in the winter time. What else should I replace while doing this rebuild? Im going to use all ARP bolts in the process. And replace the 1st gen mitsu lifters. Should I upgrade to better springs and retainers if im going to use the DKS camshafts? Any comments will be greatly appericated. Thank you , Jesse.

Use a factory kit, minus the head gasket. Why risk something so important over less than $200? Besides, the topend kit doesn't include valve cover gaskets.

Should I upgrade to 2g pistons and reuse my 1g big rods? I want to hit at least 325 whp on just boost, and make the rest on spray. Im going to have sound performance do it (a speed shop over here in Illinois), I want it done right because I dont trust myself rebuilding the motor :) .

If I had the money I was going to dish out the $5000 bucks and get a slowboy longblock, but I still need enough money to get my tranny done at TRE, whats the cheapest , most afforable and reliable way to go about this rebuild?

Do it yourself. Read up on engine building. Find a good shop to get your parts cleaned/machined/balanced, etc. I'm looking to build a stroker motor for less than $1500, including forged internals and a built head. The trick is that I can put it together myself, I just need someone else to machine the parts for me. As for the pistons, you might as well splurge for forged pistons. It's going to cost some money for new 2g pistons, then you have to get your rods machined to fit them. If you insist on using stock cast pistons, use evo 8 pistons. Slightly higher compression ratio. Best of luck to you.

just adding to this thread..

i have a naked 7 bolt block with just a crank, (its a 94)

since i have no parts whatsoever , i was thinking just getting 2g rods and pistons along with a 2g 7 bolt rebuild kit (since its going in a 2g with a 2g head)

now, whats the deal on the 1g big rods vs the 2g ones?

The 1g roda re thicker and are stonger. The 2g pistons have a higher compression (8.5 on the 2g verses 7.8 on the 1g). A common buget setup is to machinet he 1g big rods thinner on the top to fit the higher compression 2g pistons. Check for applications, I have only read of this being done on 1g's. But in all honesty, jsut do some sturdy rods and buy some forged pistons. The money you save isn't worth the hassle of making a mess machining parts.

now you have a great point there..i was thinking eagle rods and some 8.8 or 9.0 pistons

now..whats the deal with using 1g 6 bolt bearings on aftermarket rods?
