What do I need to log with a laptop?

Topic Says it all. I want to log using my laptop.. what can I do? What cables do I need? I attempted to search for this, but did not find a lot

thats the one i bought. if you click "see seller's other items", he should have another. for the laptop, make sure you add $5 when you pay him and tell him you need that null modem adapter thing. and if you plan on getting a cheap palm pilot to log, u either need some kind of serial adapter to palm connector, or make sure you get a palm pilot that already has a serial connection on it.
