i recently got a used fp big t-28 that i plan on installing in the spring along with:
a ss O2 collector with atmoshphere dump.(and probably a fp race manifold)
vrs fmic.
255hp pump with rewire.
stm fuel feed/filter/regulator/return.

i already have what's in my profile, and i have a 3.5" gm maf that i haven't used.

i am trying to find an eprom ecu on the cheap, so i can get ecm link 3.0. i was wondering if an evo ecu would be a good alternative.(can't they be reflashed and used instead?)
either way what sized injectors would be good?

i also have been thinking about getting some bc 272 cams. good idea?

just in case you were wondering the car is currently my dd and i am planning on getting something else in the spring so i can build this car to take to the local road racing track. i don't want ridiculous power, but i'd like to get it set up so i can take advantage of the power and increased power band the t28 offers.

i will also be putting in:
eibach pro kit springs and tokico illuminas.
a new aluminum rad. silicon hoses, and shrouded fans.
new slotted front rotors, hawk hp pads, ss brake lines.
act 2100 with street disc, flywheel, full ss clutchline.

There is more than one way to skin a cat, and since you asked for opinions:

-You can get your ECU socketed for $30, then ECMLink for $595.
-I ran HKS 264/264 cams on my old T28, worked great (+25 h.p.)
-FP race manifold, another great mod (+20 h.p.)
-EVOIII intake manifold yet another great mod (+20 h.p.)
-Lightweight flywheel, awesome mod, not too light though.
-ACT 2100 great clutch, never slipped under power, though I managed to explode it on my EVOIII 16g, whoops.
-I recommend minimum 650cc injectors.
-I like Porterfield RS4 pads myself for the ultimate cheapskate street only braking mod.
-GM maf is a waste of time on a T28, no power to be had with it, I love the stock 2g MAF driveability.
-I'm not crazy about the cams you selected but they are cheap.
-02 dump another waste of time unless you like noise, T28 is neither going to creep
or gain power from open dump.

You can expect about 380 h.p. from the T28, maybe more with some whacked out bigass cams.

For your plans i would recommend 650's as well and you don't really need to run 272'a, your stock cams would do just fine, but if you want some more kick out of it a set of 264/264 or 264/272's would help as well. Very good street combo.

A 1998 2g NON_EPROM ECU can be socketed? I thought that the whole socketed deal was for EPROM ECU's?

WTF Do you have dyno graphs for this?

With a bolt on T28 a set of 550cc and an AFC will be plenty.

My bad, yep, I just cracked open my 97 non-eprom ECU. The problem is the pins on the logic chips are extremely small compared to the 1g ECUs. The 2nd problem is the PROM and other logic controllers are surface mounted and the entire board is a 2 sided board. It would be extremely difficult to resocket the 2g ECU given the surface mounting, double layer construction and miniature I/O pin construction.

so i've been reading for the past couple hours and i've found out about re-flashing the 98-99 ecu using evoscan and ecuflash. i think i'll be going this route as far as tuning goes.

as for injectors, i'll probably get 650's or even 750's. i'll hold off on cams for now, i hate to say it but the main reason i wanted 272's so much was i love how mean they sound. if it is worthwile with the t-28 i'll def buy some cams. if i get cams what will give me the best power up to 6-7000 rpm and still be street frendly?

i have a pile of stuff just waiting to go on the car. fp big t-28, fp race mani, full exhaust, 255 fuel pump, full stm fuel system, vrspeed fmic i am in the process of modifying a few bits and i plan to have this all in within the next month.

with the system set for 14psi i am assuming i can drive fine on stock injectors and ecu, correct?

to tune i think i'll just need to get the right cable and download the software.

750cc's injectors, trust me on that one. I'm having to go bigger than my 660cc injectors cause I'm out of fuel on an EVO3 16g. Hmm, I'd say 272's would be my choice. I've got the Kelford 272 cams sitting here going in next month which are about 2 levels bigger than then your average 272 type cam. If they don't work out I'll probably fall back on the HKS 272 cams.

I ran a big t28 before I got my small 16g. I would honestly give the advice that "stock rocks." Our stock heads can handle upward of 400hp. Our stock 450cc injectors with higher pressure like around 46-50 psi can flow much like 550cc injectors. With 100+ octane fuel will give you enough to run over 16 psi safely. The duty cycle for the injectors will be pretty much around 100. I have yet to change injectors or add any digital fuel control, or mafts yet. I do have a logger, which I would also strongly recommend. Set your turbo up, run the logger and if your not hitting fuel cut or running lean, or knocking. Upgrade some other parts with the money I saved you, if you are, it's time for injectors and tuning gear.
