I am due for a new timing belt very soon, so i figured why not put some new lifters (i have horrible lifter tick) and some new cams in at the same time. Mods are in my profile. Yes i know i am still running a ported 14b at the moment, and don't plan on swapping for a while. I am looking for some cams that will still make power with the 14b and a 16g if i do decide to upgrade in the future. I am thinking about the hks 264s and comp 101100's. How do these cams idle? What kind of gains have any of you seen on a 14b?

I would go with the hks 264/264 combo since the only turbo you might upgrade to is a 16g. The car will pretty much idle like stock.

264/264, Comp 10100 or FP1's will work fine if you have no desire to go past a 16G. The nice thing about either stup is that they maintain more low end that a straight 272 setup. These would even do well with something like a 20G or a 50 trim if you decided to step up to something larger in the future.

How about a 264/272 set-up. That proves to add to the top end, and take little from the bottom end side of power, and allows stock like base idle.

I'll throw in my vote for Comps or FP1s, because the extra cost of the HKS cams isn't worth it in my opinion. All three will drop in with no real degreeing required, and all have similar profiles. The FP cams are actually manufactured by Comp to meet FP's specifications. As already stated, the change in idle quality will barely be noticeable with a 264 grind.

Im with you 100% on the HKS being so expensive, so I would suggest DKS its a regrind that FFWD does, and it is to the same specs as HKS hence the really close names.

Could still go with my 264/272 set-up with the DKSs, but nice catch on that one.

I cant speak for the 272's, but i have the comp 200's and if i didn't tell you i had cams, you wouldn't notice yourself at idle. Of course i did turn the idle up alittle to 1000. At the stock 750 you can hear a slight lope. I'm not sure where I found it but there's a comparision AMS did between a bunch of different cams. he 264/272 combo did have alittle more power than the straight 264's so i would also look into doind an fp1/fp2 combo or comp 100/200 combo. Wether you choose a straight 264 set or a combo your going to enjoy your purchase.

I emailed them and got that info after you suggested them in another thread. I would suggest the 264/272 combo if you plan on upgrading in the future or straight 264's if you don't. And really to me the brand doesn't matter, I know I'm obviously using HKS terms but what I really mean is something in that range. Everyone has their favorites.
