Alright I just got a 95 talon tsi awd and i want to get an exhaust for it. I probly won't be upgrading the turbo and if i do its gonna be a 16g. so should i get 2.5 in. down pipe with 3 in. catback system then if i get a bigger turbo i can just get a 3 in. downpipe or should i go 3 in. all the way now? The only other mods done to the car are injen intake, hard ic pipe kit, with apexi bov. I dont want a ridicuosly loud exhaust either, I like the sound of magnaflows i have heard on other cars. But anyways could you please give me so input on what exhaust would go with my car best.
Thanks,
Ryan

2.5 will be plenty for what u have done and also if u plan on getting a 16g. 3" will be too much. i have a dynomax on mine and it sounds good. its perfect...........not too loud but yet u and others know its there :talon:

Yes with a 16g of any kind you will boost creep with a full 3" system. I would get a 3'' cat back though. I recomend the Apex N1 system. The down pipe is not 3" untill about 2 ft from he o2 housing conection were it is 2.5. This will prevent boost creep. The down pipe does not have flanges for a cat so its just a straight thew race set up. I plan on running this untill I have to pass emisons again and I will just put my stock DP and cat on for that only.
I also recomend you have your O2 housing ported. Slowboy Racing has Magnaflow systems they sell complete so thats a good start. If it comes down to it just get a 2.5" DP and a 3" cat back with your O2 housing ported and you will be good to go. :)

so you guys are sayin that if i go with a 2.5 downpipe and 2.5 catback that will be fine for stock turbo or even a 16g if i decide to do that?

Yea thats fine. I am going to be running the N1 set up on my ported and clipped BR B16G.
I plan on boosting 20 psi on the street and 25psi at the track. I have to find some way to come up with a nice street FMIC to run that boost though. It never ends

If you are looking for something on the quit/bearable end then definetly dont get the apexi system. Its really loud and with the silencer in its the same with just a higher pitch. I cant find how the hell i'm gonna tune this down. Maybe a high flow cat should quiet it down a bit, I dunno..........

how about an HKS Hyper 3 inch cat back? I know you guys said 2.5 but i was offered one of these for a fairly good price would that be ok with a 2.5 downpipe, or should i just keep looking to find a 2.5 catback? Thanks in advance.

Yes that would be a good Idea. The HYPER cat back will bolt up to a 2.5 down pipe but is a 3" cat back. Also Thermal does the same.
A 2.5" DP is a better bet in your case running a smaller turbo. You will get boost creep at high RPMS with a full 3" down pipe.
I would recomend running no cat though.
I called BR and they told be with my BR B16g P/C that the 2.5 inch DP is the best bet to prevent boost creep from occcuring. The 3" cat back will be a better choise. The turbo just needs a little back pressure from the 2.5" pipe and free flow after that.
You can go full 3" with a B16g but will need a external WG to control the creep at high RPMs. THe 16g's are only rated at 350 HP anyway and a 2.5 DP will do that no problem just get a 3" catback with no cat and call it a day.
I look at it this way- I would rather rev the motor to 7500 and not wory about detonation from boost creep than shifting it at 6k with creep. :p
Get your O2 housing ported as well!!!

Anyone know who makes a good 2.5 in downpipe? I ve been looking around but havent found much in 2.5

Buschurracing.com makes a nice 2.5 stainless down pipe among other custom made parts . There are many other companys out there. just ask to make sure it will bolt up to what ever cat back you deside to go with. Also when shoping around I would go with manderel bends and a nice flex section to prevent cracking the turbo housing from engine movement. ;)

Well i am gettin that 3 inch hks hiper cat-back. 300 bucks and its only 2 years old so now i gotta get a 2.5 downpipe and cat i ll be set to go.

Nice!! Forget the cat just run a test pipe untill you have emissions then put it on and take it off afterward. The cat what ever kind it is is very restictive. The turbo will perform better and last longer. ;)

dude....get all 3 inch. Boost creep is a function of flow. If you get boost creep, consider it a good thing and fix it, resting assured your not on some 2.5 inch system people consider beneficial becuase its more restrictive.
