What are some common things that like to go out in 4g63s and 420a's 4g64's?

Well I know in my 420a daily driving.. So far some of the common things I heard where..

Thermostat.. any car really..
Rust around Suspension.. the strut mounts like to rust
I had one of my heater hoses dry rot.. heard that was common..
Im guessing my temperature sensor went out.. im not really sure.. its green around there and I just hardwired my fans so.. not sure if thats common..
Another thing weird that happened was my power steering pump pulley came completely off and cut a hole in my overflow.. LOL.. we where like wtf?!?! The belt stayed on and it still turned.. but I switched it out..

I know there has to be more.. every car has things that like to go out first..
If you guys have anything to add to the list that is common on any of these engines.. I would like to know Im really curious.. :thumb:

Crank walk.. everyone knows

4g63
4g64
420a

FYI, crank walk can happen in any motor, but has been noted more often in the 7-bolt 4g63, not the 4g64.

As for common issues, it would depend on the age of the car and where it lives (AZ vs Alaska).

I understand but garage kept cars.. normal wear and tear.. just general questions.. Thanks for that though I get the two confused sometimes..

Well, dont know about everyone else, but my engine oil I have to change every 3000-3500 miles.....LOLLOL

Anyhow, back on track... Id have to say 4G63 being the only DSM engines I have dealt with out of the 3 engines.

Ill go with, Sensors, Valve Cover Cracks, Timing(very crucial to keep a eye on)

Cant think of much but theres tons out, almost pointless thread,..

With the 420a the only big issue i've had was ECU was toast causing the car to hesitate and stall randomly. And know some people that had the same problem. But other then that shes been good.

Lets see,

#1 stupid kids will blow the turbo motors cause they don't know what they're doing.

The transmission in AWD cars can be highly stressed, especially when launching/400HP+

There was a recall on the 2g upper ball joints

1g transfer cases are know to leak, then heat up on the highway and seize up.

Timing belts on the mitsubishi motors go out at 60k like clockwork

Thats all I can think of right now...

on the 420a the lifters are known to start ticking pretty bad. bad design for oil flow.
the auto tranny for the 420a (a604) are hit or miss transmissions they are known to go into "Limp" mode for any minor trans problem.

A common problem with the earlier 420A's was the head gaskets. They would leak oil. Sometimes retorquing the outer headbolts would cure the problem, but most of the times the gaskets had to be replaced. Chrysler actually came out with a spray on sealant that was supposed to be applied to the new gaskets when they were having this issue. It smelled a lot like Permatex #2.

a spray on sealant? Chrysler you sure rock my world with your temporary fix:ohdamn:.. might as well silicone the bi***... wtf...

And as for this being a pointless thread:shhh:.. oh well I was just curious to see what kind of stuff has gone out with normal wear and tear.. so I have an idea what ill need to replace..

Thanks for your answers guys :):thumb::hellyeah:
