That is defently a "big" sized core, those about the SBR core dimensions. As for the fogs it depends on how the inlet/outlet tanks are designed (ie out the ends or facing back) and there location on the core (bottom, middle, etc). More then likely with a core that size you will have to lose the fogs.

The inlet and outlet are at the ends at the bottom ....what about the height will the bumper fit ? I plan to alter the front bumper to make the mouth a little bigger
 
Rember when deciding what intercooler you want to buy. "BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER"

There are manythings that you have to take into consideration, especially if buying your own.
Things from: volume, density change, and temperature change all need to be thought of. A good place to find all of this information is in Corky Bell's book Maximum Boost

SBR's big FM is real good but unless you planning to make big power it will be a little excessive. Their smaller one will probably be better

But to answer your other question. Yes your bumper will have to be modified. I have no bumper support anymore. There is just the plastic bumper cover sitting over it.
 
what kind of HP are you looking for.

ex. I'm eventually looking for around 600-650hp at the crank maybe a little more if I'm lucky:D SBR has a street FMIC with dimensions of 24"long x 7.75" high x 3.5" thick

This is 4.25" shorter than SBR's big one and allows for you keep your stock bumper support and only needing to cut a small notch in it. With out going into all of the calculations, which I'm not to good at, I would imagine this one would be good for you.

remember that includes all the piping and the couplers and the units are high quality

But if you are only looking for those numbers I know of a few people who use spearco cores check into those.
 
Contrary to what was said earlier bigger is actually always better with an intercooler if you ignore the following things: Weight added to the car from bigger intercooler, extra cost of intercooler, and the (very) slight difference in spool time due to "charging" the air in the pipes between the intake and the turbo (increasing the pressure of a larger initial volume requires the addition of more air than a smaller volume).

A larger intercooler will cool the intake air most efficiently if the air is moved through the intercooler as slowly as possible and over the largest inner intercooler area possible. Both of these are acheived by increasing the size of the intercooler. An additional benefit to the larger intercooler is a smaller total pressure loss across the intercooler due to the smaller velocity gradients present with slower moving air.

Bottom line? If you want to spend the money and time required to fit a giant intercooler in there it will definately be better. However, there is a point where you are not going to be able to measure how much better it is cause you're looking at a difference of just a couple degrees intake temperature. I'll make no judgements as to what you should do, these are just some facts about why bigger is actually better. Hope you enjoyed.
 
Sorry if the bigger isn't always better saying isn't right. I was just going by what I've read and been told. From what I have been told if you don't plan on going for big numbers, one doesn't want or need a big on. I was just going off my own experiences

regardless, if money is an issue the bigger you go generally means the more it will cost.
 
Agreed, after a thorough cost-benefit analysis most poeple would come to the conclusion that a larger intercooler than the one linked above is not going to give much increase in performance compared to price. I was just trying to give poeple some ideas of how it works and what makes it better and worse. You were definately correct when you take into account that most of us operate on limited budgets.

That looks good, it would be efficient for the power you want to hit. I dont know about everyone else but I believe you can never get to big on a core. The bigger the core the lower your intake temps will be. Which means you will have less knock. Try to fit the largest core possible.

Right on ...everybody has good points but i think bigger may be better...damn i just dont want to lose the fog lamps :cry:
 
to the best of my knowledge keeping or loosing your fog lights is all a matter of how the pipes that come off your endtanks are welded. Look at the pictures on SBR's website that I posted that may give you an idea of how not to loose your fog lights
