Well guys I'll try to be as descriptive as possible. I just got back in the dsm world today when I went to pick up a 91 talon tsi. The previous owner had removed the rear drive shaft do to not having the bolts for it to the rear end but had explained that the tcase had been welded. I knew I was taking a chance driving it but had no choice because I had no way to tow it. Seemed to drive fine for about the first 30 miles as I made sure to stay out of the boost since the rear shaft was out but as I was slowing down to stop for gas I heard something that sounded like you had dropped a few tiny nuts or washers on the ground and then a minor clunk or pop. I pushed the clutch in and drifted into the gas station as soon as I heard it. After stopped I put it back in gear and let out on the clutch slowly just to where it grabbed and the car would bog down but not move so I went ahead and shut it down. Took a look under it and didn't see any fluid leaking then I rolled it forward with ease. Started it and put it in gear again to see if anything had changed and with the clutch completely released it wouldn't move at all and showed no sign of any load put on it. Axles are all good. I couldn't quite see but it almost looked like the output shaft on the back of the tcase was spinning when I let off the clutch.
