weird transmission noise

i had a close ratio gear set put together by jackstransmissions.com. it shifts fine and works just great the weird thing is that it makes this noise for a while after first getting started. i thought it was the throw out bearing at first, but after it was changed it still made the noise. i found a video of another car with the same kind of transmission set up as me, and also making the same exact noise. now im wondering if this is a normal noise for a trans. that is not completely through its breakin period. and what is making that awful noise, it sounds to me like bearings and race.here is the vid. i had the same problem with mine. i ordered a new release bearing and the noise disappeared. the thing is that before you install the bearing make sure you put lots of grease on it. worked for me:cool:
 
Since you got it done by Jack. Contact him and explain to him what it is doing. I'm sure there is a warranty on it that he will honor.
 
I have a very similar sound on my eclipse with a used transmission installed about 80K on it. The sound only appears when I step on the gas though. It sounds perfect when idling.

What do you think this could be? Could the transmission be bad. The car drives great and all gears seem to be working good. Just that the noise appears when I step on the gas. It gets quieter if I drive a little.

On my 3g the input shaft bearing went out which was a terrible sound, only when the clutch was let out, so we ended up rebiulding it =] Good luck man
 
mine makes that same noise. only in first and second gear and stops after the car is warmed up.
 
mine sounded much like yours....but would disappear if i engauged the clutch....thus being the input shaft bearing. if this is indeed the same prob....definately call jack. the input shaft bearing is the last bearing on a tear down and rebuild note. Good luck

To the OP like said before sounds like either the TOB or Input shaft bearing
 
UPDATE - RESOLVED

I ended up having a shop rebuild the transmission for trade. Everything worked good for about 1500 miles. I gave up on the car since and just got something better.

2003 BMW M3 with 45k

That has been more fun than the eclipse.

But when I finally did pull out the transmission this week I discovered that it wsan't the clutch that was bad or anything with the rebuild. The ACT 2900 Pressure plate had two splines snap off.

The car would be fine had it not been for the damn Pressure plate.

ACT was quick to offer a fix for the 1.5 yr old pressure plate which is good, but I am thinking they might be liable if components such as the pressure plate falls apart.

I will take pictures before I send to them to show you guys.

I'm just going to put in a OEM pressure plate and disc then resurface the Fidanza flywheel.

I will trade for my 9 lb Fidanza flywheel for a stock and maybe something else. Depends on the value for the oem. I also have a few other parts that are going to be up for sale since the car is going to be sold.
