I have a 95 2g w/6bolt swap in it. It has the 98 flashable ecu in it. When i am driving at a certain throttle position the car breaks up and the aem reads full lean. This occurs in vacum, i unplugged the tps and now it runs the way it should. So i figured it was the tps and i changed it. Same problem occured, unless i have two bad sensors i have no idea what could be wrong with it. The new sensor came off of a runng car. any ideas? the car was running great a week ago.

did you set your idle position switch after you changed your tps?

It idles fine and runs like a raped ape wide open but cruising it will break up real bad and go full lean.

I had same issue on my block before I transplanted in new body. I change my iac an would idle then ramp to 4-5k when I transplanted found out I blew out a section of intake manifold gasket an the break booster line had cracked all the way through. Check for vacuum leaks along manifold as well

Yeah there are codes but they are all emissions. I haven't checked them since the problem started but I will now it might take me a Lil though my buddy has my taverns and he's on vacation right now.

The reason i asked if you set your IPS (idle position switch) because the IPS is build in the TPS in our 2g's. Its really important that you set it or else your car is gonna run really crappy. Sure, it may idle fine but when driving around its gonna do all sorts of weird things. It wont know when to switch from closed loop to open loop. You can set your IPS by putting a .45mm feeler gauge between the stop scew and the throttle pulley. Probing pins 3 and 4 at the TPS sensor, pin 4 being black (ground) and using an ohm meter to test the resistance. Set the IPS from where it switches from closed to open (as close to zero as you can). Then you have to verify that the TPS (pins 2 and 4) reads between .4 and 1v while the feeler gauge is still in place.

sounds like the normal random misfire with 6bolts i have my tps sensor unplugged right now because my car does the same exact thing, until i can get the money for a socketed eprom maybe thats somethin you should look into

I'm having the random misfire problem with my 6-bolt swap as well as a higher than normal idle (around 1600rpm then climbs to 1900-2000 when warmed up). Did you unplug your TPS to lower your idle? If so, how safe is it to drive around like that? I know my car has an eprom ECU, but I'm not sure if it's socketed yet (haven't had a chance to pull it back out to look).

+1 on setting the tps, deffinately can cause issues. mine idled at 4k for a while, bad tps plug and blown throttle body seals.

unpluggin your tps is def a temporary fix but defiantly has nothin to do with you high idle if i would you i would check you idle air control and check you base timing as well... but unpluggin my tps did fix my misfire problem so ill plug it in while i drive around the city but when i know ill be takin a trip or drivin on the highway i unplug you willl tel a little difference in throttle response thats all

Did this ever got solved? I'm having the same issues with my recent 2g-6bolt swap. With the tps plugged in the car has almost no power and vibrates a lot. With it unplugged it will run better. I adjusted the tps but I'll check it again.
