well i just got my car back from 2 weeks of not having tires, since one blew out on the way home...I got free stock GST rims and tires from BoostedinSoFla..greatly appreciated. Anyway.. he point in this thread is to find out why my turbo doesn't sound the same, like the spooling sounds different now??..Why would that happen ?...Any ideas?

I have seen things get into the compressor blades and chip them up. Changing the tone etc. Also maybe a small boost leak and the wheel is overspinning to compensate. Something to look into. Check for leaks and pull off the intake pipe.

What does it sound like? I've had mine fail on me (not to scare you), but it sounds a lot like a supercharger. Check your compressor wheel for freeplay in left, right, up, down, motion. Also check for in/out motion too. If the wheel is good and not chewed up around the circumference then check for boost leaks. It's amazing, but boost leak checks seem to fix a majority of problems and it is the 1st thing to always investigate. Oh, and make sure you are getting oil to the turbo.

A change in the pitch can be caused be numerous different things.

From my experiences, an extremely noticable change in turbo pitch is more often than not related to the turbo failing. The compressor blades hit the housing and are damaged changing the tone, more often than not.

But as stated above, if it's just a minor change in the tone, it could anything from the turbo starting to fail to a small boost leak somewhere around the turbo.
