I started having some weird electrical problems today. I found out it was my aftermarket alarm; fixed it, and now all is normal. Well, almost all is normal. My power door locks are acting kind of weird. I've searched to see if anyone else is having this problem, but none of the solutions I've found will work for me.

Here's what is happending. If I hit the power lock button from either side, I hear the click of the rely as if it's trying to send the signal, but the doors neither lock or unlock. Now, here's where it's weird. If I pull the fuse for the power door locks and put it back in, the doors will lock automatically. (This is where I'm assuming everything mechanically is working). If I leave the fuse in, and try to unlock my doors with the unlock button, I again here the click but the doors will not unlock. Ok, here's the strange thing, if I try to unlock the door manually, the lock will not open. No matter how hard (without breaking it) I push to open it. This is on both sides. It takes me pulling the fuse before I can unlock the doors again.

Ok, sorry if that is confusing to anyone, but I wanted to make it as specific as possible. Could someone help me as to where to look to try to solve this? I'm pretty good with electrically, so I'll take any suggestions.

Haha I had the exact same problem with my car and i mean EXACTLY!!!!!!. There was times i thought i was going to freak getting locked inside the car. I searched for hours on how to fix it so one day i said screw it and got an alarm put on mine and had the guy fix that problem also.

A cap that goes over the switch behind the door towards the hinges. You need to mess with it. I just called the guy that installed my alarm and he can't explain it to me the fullest because it has been so long since he fixed it. I would check behind both door panels and mess with something to that description. They said mine came loose and that is what was causing mine to do that.

I hope that helps and i told him to call me if he remembers anything else.

Wow, that's so funny. I thought I'd be alone on this. I actually already have both door panels off, but I'm not really sure what you mean. A cap? Near the hinges? :) Would it be possible if you could give me a little more detail? And also, this was happening to both doors for you?

I would be able to if i would have found it, but my buddy found it and he can't really give me a very good description on it. From what he told me, i would look for something around the switch itself then along the mechanism that operates the locks. He said it was something that came off that was hanging there. His description was a cap...... I don't know how well of a description that is. The best way would be to compare one side to the other and see if anything looks different such as something dangling or came off. He definitely told me it was behind the door panel and something electrical had come off. That is the best i can do for you. Like i said if he remembers anything else, he is going to call me.

and yes it was happening to both doors. I would even try to unlock it with the key and it would almost break the key. Then sometimes it would magically work. The sound of it something was loosing connection and gaining it again.

Hey, thanks. I really appreciate your help. I'm gonna have to look around under the door panels again. Keep me posted, and I will do the same. :)
