Hello I cranked my dsm after hg replacement. There is a noise coming out from the side of my engine near the timing belt. Car ran but the noise only issue, as well as a broken o ring on the water pump pipe. There seemed to some smoke when I removed the oil cap coming out from the place where the cams sit, sorry I forgot name currently at work. Welp.

Make sure the alternator pulley on the water pump is on correctly. It can be installed backwards. I just went through that. Also check the alignment of the alternator belt. Make sure it’s in line with the crank pulley.

Smoke was coming off exhaust manifold due to oil costing it. I also had vapors coming out from coolant cap when opened. Engine turned hot very quick I haven't turned car on in 4 months.
Sounds like you didn't torque the head properly or you have a warped head. Or did not clean the making surface properly. Or possibly did not replace the head bolts.
