I have a weird problem, when I am driving around normally giving 10-25% throttle max, I get 40 counts of knock. As soon as I touch the gas I start knocking. However, sometimes it doesn't knock while driving normally. When I floor the car its a game of chance soemtimes I will not knock at all or very little other times I will just get 40 counts of knock. These runs are done at around 60 degrees while using the same safc settings. Any explainations or advice would be appreciated.

Yea, I was. But, I sold the car almost a year ago. I am still interested to what would of caused that problem. You think the stock Intercooler could?

two works. PHANTOM KNOCK. its very comming amoung dsm's. i have battled it on 2 cars now and i cant seem to win. i got it down to about 30 counts when it does do it from always being pegged at 43.

sometimes you can beat it by getting a dsm chip made with the knock elimination code. this will help because if your not in boost it will automaticly tell the ecu that there is no knock. once you get into boost you can monitor knock normally again..

hope that helps

From your description is sounds like you are experience phantom knock and real knock. Post some datalogs. One driving at low throttle, and another at wot in 3rd or 4th gear from 2500 rpms to redline.

I have, or had the same problem it is almost gone but this is how I fixed it. First I bought a new knock sensor (that did nothing to help the problem) bought a new o2 sensor (might have helped fix the problem). The funny thing my logger doesn't work real good because the batterie doesn't hold a charge, but I thought I have nothing to lose, I will watch my auto meter A/F guage and when it studdared it pegged in the red and then wen off.WTF So I looked at the rpm and Karman reading on my afc, and added fuel where it studdared. I ended up just adding plus 10% all the way across on hi and lo throttle, and the studdar is almost gone. Just a hint at like 4k for like 300rpms then it pulls hard.

I might be rich but hey it at least it runs good now.

Everybody told me it was phantom knock too. I dont know till I log it but it seems to be gone.

p.s. look at my profile I have similar mods. Mainly blow through maft.
