Hey guys i am ready to push my 95 gst eclipse in to a lake. i already chose a good deep enough lake near by.when i start my car up cold it idles very rough for around 30 seconds then it steadys and then the idle starts to creep up to around 1700.it surges somtimes but the idle always stays high for a while with the car just sitting then the idle suddenly jumps a little then drops down to normal and stays that way for the entire time the car is on.If i turn off the car and let it sit for around 20 minutes or a long pit stop the cycle starts again. the idle sures somtimes. i did a boost leak test at the turbo inlet and found that it would only pressurise to 5 psi max reading off my autometer boost/vac guage mouned inside.i found a few leaks fixed them and it would still only hold 5 psi wich is exacly what my car boosts max while driving wich is what caused me to do this test in the first place.i then installed the bl tester on the tb elbo and noticed a small leak at the throttle body shaft seal still maxing out at 5psi.is this normall?would this cause the system to only hold 5 psi max?that is the only leak i can hear. then i noticed my car running rich,i did a fuel pressure test and noticed it was running 38-40 psi when its surposed to be doing only 32psi with the vac line connected.after seeing the pressure was still over spec with the vac line disconnected i replaced the fpr,and its still high it only lowed by 1psi!!!! it also smokes alot when i rev the engine high. i am ready to give up on my dsm future!! is there someone that knows from expeirence what is going on with this car??i really rather keep it dry.

OK first of all if your cant get past 5psi that means theirs still a wicked leak in your system option two could be your waste gate is messed up and its opening way to early... as for your fuel pressure sounds like your fuel pump has been rewired (check to make sure)...as for your boost gauge, if its stock dont trust it get your self a descent aftermarket one and wonce again the reason its at the middle is you have a leak. dont give up just be calm and work one step at a time :thumb:

I feel your pain. I have boost leaks EVERYWHERE and am just trying to save up enough to get a new hose kit for the I/C piping and a new 1g BOV. But be patient with it. These are very touchy engines. Mine does a similar cycle on a cold start and runs lean for about 5 minutes but then it starts running rich after that. Mine is a combination of boost leaks and (I guess) the ECU is whacking out. Stick with it.

As for a faulty wastegate i am... boosting exactly as much as the system will let me pump into it 5 psi.but the wastegate has to be really messed up to bypass the boost signal.has anybody ever heard of this? i never heard of that but thats an idea that i am going to rule out next chance i get. my fuel pump is not rewired, and i do trust my boost gauge after i re lined it my self.

waste gates can go bad witch means your door opens at any signs of pressure...as for your boost guage if you dont have an aftermarket one you really cant see the actual boost your holding/pushing...test your waste gate to rule it out simply take the boost line coming from it and hook it up to an air compressor but turn the outlet psi to 11-12 so you dont mess up the diaphragm in case its good.

i never seen a eclipse factory boost guage in numbered pound incriments.were do yall think i got 5psi from? as i said in the beggining i do have a aftermarket guage. but anyways i plan on just doing another boost leak test this time with the wastegate boost singnal line plugged and see if theres any difference. somthing tells me all these symptoms are of different problems:(

actually never mind that i just remembered that i was getting 5psi max with the blt on the tb elbo. (wastegate signal line at j pipe)

well the psi can b read with the stock gauge if you know how ... sorry i didnt get the gauge info i was tired when i read the threat....it also helps it you put down all mods, upgrades and or changes done to your dsm on your profile so we dont waste time giving you advise or telling you to get something you already have...the motor does have a position i just cant remember the name so you can perform a proper boost test you can find out on the VAQ site.

jaja same thing with the guages, mods ARE there in my profile.;) i know it aint much but mabey if i can figure out whats wrong with my ride and get it running rite i can start on making that list bigger. i read in some posts that 30 degrees past tdc isint neccesary so i ghess ima skip that. Im just going to start with the throttle body shaft seals and see what happens from there.
