So i noticed today that the weather stripping (is that the right term?) near the front of the trunk has been torn pretty bad (see pic). Im wondering what can be done about it. I checked every junkyard in a 20-mile radius, and the few that had first-gen DSMs had the EXACT ripping problem that mine did. So what i did was bought one of the ones that was torn, which brings up my question.
1. What if i cut off the part on my weather stripping that's torn, then cut off an equal piece of the one i got from the junkyard, and placed that piece from the junkyard where the broken part of my old weather stripping was? basically id just be swapping out the ripped part of my current weather stripping for the "good" portion of the one from the junkyard
2. Alternatively, if anyone has any other cost-effective solutions, id be glad to hear them. I found what i think is the weather stripping on this site for about $60 (see other pic), does that look right, and is that indeed the weather stripping for the trunk? Most importantly, would it fit my 1992 Talon?
