Alright, so ever since I put in my new turbo I have had coolant leaking. It is coming from the driver side of the engine bay and appears to be coming from the waterpump.

I want to change the waterpump myself instead of paying to do it.

It looks some what difficult to get to so does anyone have any tips on changing these?

when i replaced my water pump I also replaced the timing belt. I am not 100% sure, but i would say you should take all that junk out of the way. Once you get to the pump it really isn't all that difficult to change. Just as a tip, make sure you unbolt the power steering pump from its bracket completely. Once you have the P/S pump unbolted you can fold it over towards the firewall. This will allow you to pull the water pump right out of the front of the engine. If you find that you do have to take the timing belt off you should replace that if it hasn't been done already(not to long ago). If you got any questions PM me.

Timing belt was replaced 13,000 miles ago, smart to do it again?
No, but you'll get some practice. The timing belt must be removed to replace the water pump. It would be smart to replace pulleys and tensioner if they were not done with the timing belt.

Still not positive if it is the waterpump or not. It leaks really bad sometimes but then other times it is barely noticeable, But it is coming right from the water pump or near it. Anyone else had this?

Yea I agree, when i did my water pump I noticed it had been done before, and they used rtv or some sealant around where the pump meets the water pipe that runs behind the turbo. I could see how it would leak there and I think when you do your water pump you will find thats where it's leaking from.

Pull the cover off and look for signs of coolant leaking where the water pump mates with the block, the weep hole, and check the o-ring in the tube. Wobble the pump pulley with the belt removed to check for play.

I found it helpful to raise the front (driver side) of the motor to give me more room to remove the pump's pulley, and the pump itself. Getting the timing belt installed took me more time than the labor for the actual water pump. Don't forget the O-ring in the tube on the new pump.

Make sure you loosen the water pump pulley bolts before taking off the belts. The tension from the belts on the pulley will normally hold it in place enough for you to loosen the bolts. It can be a pain to take them out later on.

Alright I got the pump today and I am stumped, I dont even know how to get the timing belt and cover off. Any help please?

the timing cover is held on by about 10 or 12 ten mm bolts, you will most likely need to remove the plastic wheel liner to get to some of them, as for the belt removal, remove the tension from the tensioner and shell come right off!

I`ve seen them leak from the o-ring behind the pump, where the pump connects to the tube. This is common on 4g63`s, & also the 3.0 Mitsu. engines in Chrysler vehicles.

That's what happened to me. Replaced the water pump and timing belt, and 6 months later it was leaking from where the front water pipe goes into the water pump. I was able to replace the O-ring by taking off the manifold and turbine housing, and separating the front water pipe from the water pump and water neck/thermostat housing. I lubed the O-ring with coolant when I installed the water pump just like you're supposed to, but not sure what happened. It was hard as a rock when I replaced it. This time, however, I coated it with a good amount of permatex ultra grey RTV and slipped it into place. Hasn't leaked since.

Forget this I really just cant do it, I have been trying for three days now. Either someone else in Mn should come help me or I am going to shell out 400 bones to have it done professionaly.

Man what a little bit of sleep can do for a guy. Slept on it and woke up early this morning, now I have the pump in and just putting stuff back together!
