ok so ive replaced my waterpump alternator belt twice now and it just blew out again there has to be something else wrong..... all pulleys spin freely and nothing is bent or out of shape im very confused. also the branad new front roll stop mount i got off the internet, its snapped clean off already. how in the hell does it break off completely? and its brand new! well was and that clunk was still there the whole time i had it in! and was new

please help im very confused with this car.......

Have you recently had the waterpump pulleys off? The pulleys can fit backwards and will cause the belt to be thrown off all the time. As for the roll stop, what brand and where exactly did you get it from??

pulleys are perfectly straight, the belts constantly squeeling and breaks eventually, but thesqueeling comes and goes all the time im confused

i have it as tight as it should be, the tension is fine and the bolts not bottomed out, and ive gone through 2 brand new belts now

Is the adjustment bolt bottomed out? You shouldn't have to crank it as hard as you can, just get the belt tight and a new belt def loosens up after the first few miles and you'll have to tighten it again.

the tension bolt isint all the way in and theres always a little slack but i mean belts shouldnt be going like this anyways

It sounds like the belt might be slightly too big. You should never have to tighten it "as tight as I can" I usually only use a 1/4" drive ratchet and not need to put a crazy amount of effort into it. I guess, the next thing is, are all of the pulleys stock?I have billet aluminum pulleys and it took a couple of tries to get the sized properly.

i cranked it as tight as i could, and ive gone through 2 brand new belts now
ROFL

It squeaks so you tighten it as much as you can, wow. How about you open up a manual, one of those books that tell you how to do proper maintenance on your car, and read the install procedures for a alternator belt. If the spec was "tighten the shit out of it" then you'd have broken bolts/belts everywhere...

When tightening the alternator belt there must be about 1/2" of deflection on the portion of the belt that's in between the alternator and waterpump. My guess is that you flipped the waterpump pulley, as someone already mentioned, so it's worth checking if setting the correct tension on the belt doesn't work.

well sorry about my wording, its as tight as it should be but its not to tight, sorry about that thats not exactly what i meant ill fix that now, theres enough slack to where it feels perfect i work on cars everyday so i know its not the tension...... and no i didnt flip anything

Assuming everthing is mounted in the correct orientation, the pulleys are properly aligned, and the belt is being installed at the correct tension, (I know, huge assumption) then all you need to do is get a Gates belt, and retighten it after the first hour of drive time.

...I had this issue too and I didn't think I flipped anything either, now ask me what fixed the problem. Working on cars everyday doesn't qualify you to never make a mistake, god knows I've made a few mistakes on these things over the years. It's about not being too proud to admit it and go in there and verify that you didn't make it, we're telling you that it's a possibility so I recommend you un-installing it and verify it's not flipped or keeping snapping alternator belts... your choice.

ok so today i checked out a belt that blew last. the belt itself is melted to he!!, its getting so hot it snaps im assumeing. what could be locking up or slipping if the pulleys are all free when its at a standstill?

Melts? Is your harmonic balancer separating? Alternator heating up? Open o2 dump into engine bay?

like the inside of the belt is wearing away really fast, like the grooves are being dug out and it just snaps

no open 02 i know that

Is your battery light on? Try turning the alternator pulley without the belt on. If you can turn it, how much resistance is there? My guess would be the alternator shaft bearing is on it's way out or has already exited the building.

There is rubber dust all over the side of the alternator from where the belt has been spinning and the water pump pulley is blue from the heat.

Just look at your own picture, you can see where there is rubber melted to the pulley. Try spinning the alternator and water pump by hand with no belts and see how they feel. If they are good, something is def not right with the water pump pulley.

thats what i mean, they are melting LOL, they all spin fine, waterpump spins buts theres resistence every half turn or so not alot but it wont spin like a bearing will.

Does it like hang up/grind every half a turn or when you spin it, it only free spins half a turn? It won't free spin because the water/coolant is creating drag, but it shouldn't have a rough point every half a turn.

yeah thats what i meant the coolant is being pulled. so theres nothing out of the usual
no banging no grinding no anything!
