Has anyone experienced a water pump pulley wobble? Symptoms are power steering pump belt wearing on edges excessively and a grinding noise coming from water pump. No leakage yet from pump and no overheating, it just wobbles while idling and grinds. Water pump pulley has about 1/8" to 1/4" movement in it front to back and bolts move with pulley!

Only 10000 miles or so on it and gates blue belts, AND TIMING BELT!!

Guess I need a new water pump?

Since only 10000 miles on oem timing belt and components, is it a forgone conclusion that I have to remove timing belt? No way to replace pump and not have to disassemble timing components?

DANG Thing!!!! I guess I overtightened the PS pump or Alternator to cause a new OEM......yes OEM pump's bearings to fail like this!! DANG DANG DANG.....

I did a similar thing on one my old cars. never noticed any wobble but i got the squealing. When i finally took it out to inspect/replace, i noticed that squealing was from the impeller rubbing on a cylinder. The impeller machined a nice sized flat spot. Good luck

Guess I need to order all new timing components and belts and of course a water pump.

Found a Kevlar belt at jack transmissions for less than $90. It's for a evo but says it fits a DSM. Anyone ever tried one?

Too much belt tension will make bearings uncomfortable. There's a happy medium.

Whoops didn't see that last part there...glad you figured the reason.

Gates is a good waterpump...I'd never pay what they want for an OEM waterpump. Hell, see if you can replace the bearings if that's only a 10K OEM pump...
