Resolved 2G - after water pump install, water pump pulleys wobble....

I just put a new headgasket on my 2g GSX. I finally got the timing perfect and almost everything is back together, the car is running better than ever! Now for the problem, I can't get the accessory belts back on correctly or my brand new water pump is bent.

When I put all the belts back on, the alternator to water pump to crank pulley belt squeels really bad because it is not lined up or something. If you watch while the car is running, it looks like the pulley or water pump shaft might be bent but I never had any problems before.

Anybody run into anything like this or have any suggestions? I really want to get my car back on the road.

You may have put one of the pulleys on backwards. Particularly the smaller pulley, I have seen put on backwards. Try flipping it around and see if things line up. Make sure that both pulleys are lined up with the dowel pin too.

Thanks for the response, the water pump shaft was actually bent though, I'm having such bad luck with this.

Oh it was a Bosch pump by the way, I think I'm going to return it and just go oem!
