Just finished replacing my waterpump and while it may be old hat for most of you, I decided to post this is the newbie forum for the new guys on the block.

I fought for almost 2 hours trying to get the bolt holes to line up on the waterpump.

Take a piece of threaded rod and make a stud about 1 1/2 in long. Screw it into the bottom waterpump hole. place the water pump on the stud, insert the water pipe and push the pump up against the block. The other 4 holes will then be aligned.

It's impossible to line up the holes on the two pulleys and the water pump at the same time. I bought two studs and nuts. Place the pulleys over the studs, tighten the nuts finger tight, install the regular bolts in the other two holes, remove the studs and replace the other two bolts.

I had thought about just using studs but wasn't sure about the length. I had to screw the studs in quite a bit to get the pulleys to clear the frame and didn't want to take a chance on them rubbing. You can't see the back of the studs after the pulleys are installed.

Hope this makes someone else's job easier.
